Multiparameter universality and directional nonuniversality of exact anisotropic critical correlation functions of the two-dimensional Ising universality class

V. Dohm

We prove the validity of multiparameter universality for the exact critical bulk correlation functions of the anisotropic square-lattice and triangular-lattice Ising models on the basis of the exact scaling structure of the correlation function of the two-dimensional anisotropic scalar φ^{4} model with four nonuniversal parameters. The correlation functions exhibit a directional nonuniversality due to principal axes whose orientation depends on microscopic details. We determine the exact anisotropy matrices governing the bulk and finite-size critical behavior of the φ^{4} and Ising models. We also prove the validity of multiparameter universality for an exact critical bulk amplitude relation.

Cluster Monte Carlo simulation of the transverse Ising model

Henk W. J. Blöte, Youjin Deng

We formulate a cluster Monte Carlo method for the anisotropic limit of Ising models on (d+1)-dimensional lattices, which in effect, are equivalent with d-dimensional quantum transverse Ising models. Using this technique, we investigate the transverse Ising models on the square, triangular, Kagome, honeycomb, and simple-cubic lattices. The Monte Carlo data are analyzed by finite-size scaling. In each case we find, as expected, that the critical behavior fits well in the (d+1)-dimensional Ising universality class. For the transverse Ising model on the square lattice, we determine the Binder cumulant of the classical counterpart for a range of aspect ratios between the system sizes in the third or "classical" direction and that in the other two directions. Matching this universal function with the case of the isotropic Ising model yields the length ratio relating the isotropic Ising model with the anisotropic limit. The efficiency of the present algorithm is reflected by the precision of its results, which improves significantly on earlier analyses.

Critical Properties of 2D Anisotropic Ising Model with More Than Nearest Neighbor Interaction

A. El Ghazrani, Anouar Elidrysy, A. Lahbibi +2 more

Using the finite cluster approximation (FCA) based on a single-site cluster theory and Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) under the Metropolis algorithm, we study the critical properties of two-dimensional (2D) spins-½ system by analyzing the effect of the anisotropic parameter [Formula: see text] and next-nearest-neighbor (NNN) interaction [Formula: see text] on the critical temperature [Formula: see text] of the 2D anisotropic square lattice. It is found that the MCS is more reliable than the FCA method in the resolution of the Ising model. Moreover, MC calculations reveal that [Formula: see text] is strongly correlated with the external magnetic field [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text], where the competition between these parameters can generate several rich phase diagrams.
