Quantum light from semiconductor quantum dots

Glenn S. Solomon

Non-classical light will be used in a variety of quantum-enhanced measurements such as imaging and metrology, and quantum measurements and quantum networking. One example is the discrete single or entangled photon source, a light source that provides at most one photon or one entangled photon pair at a time. One of the brightest of these sources is engineered from epitaxial single semiconductor quantum dots in optical cavities. I will discuss how these sources are made and characterized — particularly their nonclassical characteristics.

Coherence Transfer of Time-bin Pulseto a Semiconductor Quantum Dot Ensemble using Photon Echo Technique

Junko Ishi‐Hayase, Kouichi Akahane, Naokatsu Yamamoto +2 more

We experimentally demonstrated the coherence transfer/retrieval of time-bin pulse to a semiconductor quantum dot ensemble using a photon-echo technique at the telecommunication wavelength. The interference visibility of the retrieved pulse exceeded 95 %.

Model for a semiconductor quantum-dot nanolaser

Chi‐Wai Chow, F. Jahnke, Christopher Gies

A quantum-electrodynamics model is developed for a nanolaser with a semiconductor quantum-dot gain region. Intensity, coherence time and photon autocorrelation function are calculated, especially during transition from below to above lasing threshold.
