Abstract

Abstract We investigate the time evolution of a general two-qubit pure entangled state in different structured environments. A general expression is obtained to evaluate the entanglement dynamics of two-qubit systems for two different dissipative environments in the non-Markovian regime. In one case it is single Lorentzian and is detuned from the system while in the other case two Lorentzians form a photonic band gap and is resonant with the system. In the first case, we show that entanglement can be generated from the initial separable state in the non-Markovian regime. Compared to our earlier work under Markov approximation (Tahira et al 2008 J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys . 41 205501), we show that disentanglement rates as well as sudden death times are modified in structured environments. Therefore, we can retain the entanglement for a longer time by controlling the system–environment coupling parameters.

ENTANGLEMENT EVOLUTION OF A PAIR OF TWO-LEVEL SYSTEMS IN NON-MARKOVIAN ENVIRONMENT

X. L. Huang, L. C. Wang, X. X. Yi

The entanglement evolution of a pair of two-level systems is studied in this paper. The two systems without mutual interaction are independently coupled to different two-band non-Markovian environments. By comparing our results to others in the literature, we find that taking one of the Bell states as the initial state, certain non-Markovian effect protects the entanglement in short time scale, while on long time scale it leads to the entanglement sudden death (ESD), which never occurs for this initial state in the Markovian case. Finally, by analyzing the parameters in our model, a relation between disentanglement and decoherence is established and discussed.

Non-Markovian disentanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system

Xiufeng Cao, Hang Zheng

We investigate the disentanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system in the non-Markovian approach. It is shown that only for weak coupling between the system and environment does an exponential decay of entanglement appear, for certain classes of two-qubit entangled states. When the coupling between qubit and the environment becomes stronger, entanglement sudden death always appears even if the dissipation environment is at zero temperature.

Disentanglement Dynamics in Nonequilibrium Environments

Mingli Chen, Haonan Chen, Tao Han +1 more

We theoretically study the non-Markovian disentanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system coupled to nonequilibrium environments with nonstationary and non-Markovian random telegraph noise statistical properties. The reduced density matrix of the two-qubit system can be expressed as the Kraus representation in terms of the tensor products of the single qubit Kraus operators. We derive the relation between the entanglement and nonlocality of the two-qubit system which are both closely associated with the decoherence function. We identify the threshold values of the decoherence function to ensure the existences of the concurrence and nonlocal quantum correlations for an arbitrary evolution time when the two-qubit system is initially prepared in the composite Bell states and the Werner states, respectively. It is shown that the environmental nonequilibrium feature can suppress the disentanglement dynamics and reduce the entanglement revivals in non-Markovian dynamics regime. In addition, the environmental nonequilibrium feature can enhance the nonlocality of the two-qubit system. Moreover, the entanglement sudden death and rebirth phenomena and the transition between quantum and classical nonlocalities closely depend on the parameters of the initial states and the environmental parameters in nonequilibrium environments.

Two-qubit entanglement dynamics for two different non-Markovian environments

Bruno Bellomo, Rosario Lo Franco, Sabrina Maniscalco +1 more

We study the time behaviour of entanglement between two noninteracting qubits, each immersed in its own environment for two different non-Markovian conditions: a high- Q cavity slightly off-resonant with the qubit transition frequency and a nonperfect photonic band gap (PBG). We find that revivals and retardation of entanglement loss may occur by adjusting the cavity–qubit detuning, in the first case, while partial entanglement trapping occurs in a nonideal PBG.

Entanglement for Two-Qubit Extended Werner-Like States: Effect of Non-Markovian Environments

Shan Chuan-Jia, Ji-Bing Liu, Tao Chen +4 more

We investigate the sudden birth and sudden death of entanglement of two qubits interacting with un-correlated structured reservoirs. The system is initially prepared in two-qubit extended Werner-like state. We work out the dependence of the entanglement dynamics on both non-Markovian environments and the purity of initial state, and show that non-Markovian environments and the purity can control the time of the two-qubit entanglement sudden death and the reservoirs' entanglement sudden birth. Furthermore, under the conditions of different purity and initial entanglement, the revival of qubits' entanglement can manifest before, simultaneously or even after the disentanglement of their corresponding reservoirs.

Entanglement dynamics of a pure bipartite system in dissipative environments

Rabia Tahira, Manzoor Ikram, Tasnim Azim +1 more

We investigate the phenomenon of sudden death of entanglement in a bipartite system subjected to dissipative environments with arbitrary initial pure entangled state between two atoms. We find that in a vacuum reservoir the presence of the state where both atoms are in excited states is a necessary condition for the sudden death of entanglement. Otherwise entanglement remains for an infinite time and decays asymptotically with the decay of individual qubits. For pure 2-qubit entangled states in a thermal environment, we observe that the sudden death of entanglement always happens. The sudden death time of the entangled states is related to the temperature of the reservoir and the initial preparation of the entangled states.
