Entanglement and non-Markovianity of a multi-level atom decaying in a cavity

Abstract

We present a paradigmatic method for exactly studying non-Markovian dynamics of a multi-level V-type atom interacting with a zero-temperature bosonic bath. Special attention is paid to the entanglement evolution and the dynamical non-Markovianity of a three-level V-type atom. We find that the entanglement negativity decays faster and non-Markovianity is smaller in the resonance regions than those in the non-resonance regions. More importantly, the quantum interference between the dynamical non-Markovianities induced by different transition channels is manifested, and the frequency domains for constructive and destructive interferences are found.

Non-Markovian behavior for spontaneous decay of a V-type three-level atom with quantum interference

Wen-ju Gu, Gao‐xiang Li

The non-Markovian behavior of a V-type three-level atom coupled to a zero-temperature bosonic Lorentzian reservoir is investigated. The two decay channels from two upper states to the ground one are connected due to the spontaneously generated interference. When the two upper states are degenerate, the two channels can be decoupled, and an analytical lower bound of the non-Markovian behavior can be obtained by the optimal choice of a pair of initial states. The non-Markovian behavior can be enhanced by the interference.

Non-Markovian dynamics and quantum interference of open three-level quantum systems

Hao‐Sheng Zeng, Yu-Kun Ren, Zhi He

The exactly analytical solutions for the dynamics of the dissipative three-level V-type and $Λ$-type atomic systems in the vacuum Lorentzian environments are presented. Quantum interference phenomenon between the two transitions in V-type atomic system is studied and the intuitive interference conditions are derived. For the dissipative $Λ$-type atomic system, we demonstrate that the similar quantum interference phenomenon does not exist. Finally, we study the dynamical evolution of quantum Fisher information, quantum entanglement and quantum coherence for the V-type atomic system. We find that quantum interference plays a positive role to the protection of quantum entanglement and quantum coherence. The difference between the two typical measures of the quantum coherence is also demonstrated in the considered systems.

Non-Markovian quantum interference in multilevel quantum systems: Exact master equation approach

Yusui Chen, J. Q. You, Ting Yu

We study the non-Markovian quantum interference phenomenon of a multi-state atomic system coupled to a bosonic dissipative environment by using the exact master equations derived in this paper. Two examples involving four-level systems with or without external control fields are investigated. Our results show that non-Markovian master equations are capable of exhibiting quantum interference phenomena in a temporal domain that has not fully explored before. In particular, we show that the environmental memory is instrumental in the onset of non-Markovian quantum interference pattern in different time scales.

Quantum correlation dynamics of three non-coupled two-level atoms in different reservoirs

Xiao-Yun Wang, Bang-Fu Ding, Heping Zhao

Time evolution dynamics of three non-coupled two-level atoms independently interacting with their reservoirs is solved exactly by considering a damping Lorentzian spectral density. For three atoms initially prepared in Greenberger—Horne—Zeilinger-type state, quantum correlation dynamics in a Markovian reservoir is compared with that in a non-Markovian reservoir. By increasing detuning quantity in the non-Markovian reservoir, three-atom correlation dynamics measured by negative eigenvalue presents a trapping phenomenon which provides long-time quantum entanglement. Then we compare the correlation dynamics of three atoms with that of two atoms, measured by quantum entanglement and quantum discord for an initial robuster-entangled type state. The result further confirms that quantum discord is indeed different from quantum entanglement in identifying quantum correlation of many bodies.

Entanglement dynamics of three atoms in optical cavity coupled to reservior

Xing Gui-Chao, Yun‐Jie Xia

Quantum entanglement is one of most remarkable features of quantum mechanics, and in recent years it has played a more and more important role in quantum information. However, real quantum system inevitably interacts with the environment, resulting in the entanglement decay or even entanglement sudden death,so it is necessary to study the entanglement dynamical properties of an open system under different environments. In this paper,we investigate the entanglement dynamic behaviors of three interacting two-level atoms in an optical cavity which is coupled to a structured zero-temperature bosonic reservoir.Laplace transform,LBC and other methods are utilized, through numerical method we analyze the entanglement dynamic behavios of tripartite of three atoms and bipartite of cavity and reservoir. We also discuss how the coupling parameters affect the entanglement dynamics. Results show that in a short time, the entanglement of tripartite increases with coupling strength of three atoms increasing, and a periodic oscillation appears, but entanglement of bipartite decreases. The entanglement of tripartite decreases with the coupling strength between atoms and cavity increasing and damping oscillation appears, but the entanglement of bipartite increases. In a long-time limit, the entanglement approaches to a steady value. The non-Markovian dynamics of the qubits is determined by both the coupling strength and the spectral width. The strong system-reservoir coupling regime results in the non-Markovian dynamics of system. As the spectral width increases, the system of three atoms transforms from non-Markovian regime to Markovian regime. The increasing of spectral width results in the Markovian dynamic behavior of system, but the system of the atoms falls into the non-Markovian regime once more. When the coupling between the cavity and reservoir is weak, the entanglement of three atoms increases as the detuning of the cavity and reservoir increases, but it is not obvious. When the coupling between the cavity and reservoir is strong, the entanglement of three atoms increases and a periodic oscillation appears with increasing the detuning between the cavity and reservoir,so we can effectively restrain the effects of dissipation of reservoir on entanglement decay by adjusting the detuning between the cavity and reservoir.

Non-Markovian Dynamics of Entanglement of three-level atom embedded in a 3D photonic band gap structure

M. S. Ateto

Entanglement evolution for a classically pumped three-level atom interacting with an anisotropic structured reservoir is studied. We demonstrate that entanglement decay is much slower in the reservoir with the memory effects. This point is beneficial for the implementation of quantum computation in the non-Markovian environments. Unlike the free-space case, the unusual reservoir stimulates stationary entanglement with amplitude depends strongly on the relative phase between the control laser coupling the two upper levels and the pump laser pulse used to create an excited state of the atom in a coherent superposition of the two upper levels. An optimal stationary degree of entanglement is achieved for negative relative phase, where both detunings - from the upper band gap and driving laser - are the same. Moreover, a significant stationary degre e of entanglement is reached, for high detuned upper levels with the pump laser pulse, on resonant frequency near the edge of the PBG. For entanglement in stationary regime, the Rabi frequency of the control laser field exceeds the rate of entanglement degradation or e nhancement for tuned or detuned frequency from the band gap, depending on the relative phase value.
