Abstract

Cloud computing manifests exceptional capacity to facilitate easy to manage, cost effective, flexible and powerful resources across the internet. Due to maximum and shared utilization of utilization of resources, cloud computing enhances the capabilities of resources. There is a dire need for data security in the wake of the increasing capabilities of attackers and high magnitude of sensitive data. Cryptography is employed to ensure secrecy and authentication of data. Conventional information assurance methods are facing increasing technological advances such as radical developments in mathematics, potential to perform big computations and the prospects of wide-ranging quantum computations. Quantum cryptography is a promising solution towards absolute security in cryptosystems. This paper proposes integration of Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm with quantum cryptography. The proposed scheme is robust and meets essential security requirements. The simulation results show that the Quantum AES produces complex keys which are hard to predict by adversaries than the keys generated by the AES itself.

Quantum-Enhanced Security Advances for Cloud Computing Environments

Devulapally Swetha, Shaik Khaja Mohiddin

Recent developments in quantum-enhanced security have demonstrated encouraging promise for enhancing cloud computing environments' security. Utilizing quantum physics, in particular Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), provides a new method for generating cryptographic keys and improves cloud data transport security. The present study offers a thorough investigation of the integration of QKD with conventional encryption techniques, including Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), in order to tackle the dynamic cyber security scenario in cloud computing. The approach entails combining AES for encryption and decryption procedures and establishing a QKD layer within the cloud architecture to produce true quantum keys utilizing Quantum in Cloud technology. Data transmission security is greatly improved by the smooth integration of AES with QKD-generated keys, guaranteeing confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity. In addition, strong key management practices are put in place to handle cryptographic keys safely at every stage of their lifespan, reducing the possibility of unwanted access or interception. The suggested approach successfully addresses the difficulties presented by cyber threats by offering a robust and flexible means of enhancing security in cloud-based systems. Using both traditional and quantum encryption methods, this strategy provides a strong barrier against cyber-attacks, data leaks, and other security flaws. After 70 simulation rounds, the suggested strategy, which is implemented using the QKD-AES framework in Python software, achieved a data access rate of 820 MB/s. In addition to providing an accurate and quantitative assessment of the performance, this also exhibits a high data access rate attained under simulated conditions. At 15 milliseconds, the key generation time was achieved with efficiency, guaranteeing the quick creation of secure cryptographic keys in cloud environments. Overall, there is a lot of potential in using quantum-enhanced security techniques to protect sensitive data and guarantee the integrity of cloud computing infrastructures.

Quantum Cryptographic Protocols for Enhanced Cloud Security

Vinit Khetani

Quantum cryptographic protocols offer transformative potential for enhancing cloud security by leveraging the principles of quantum mechanics. These protocols ensure unbreakable encryption through quantum key distribution (QKD), where security is derived from the fundamental properties of quantum particles. Unlike classical encryption, which relies on computational complexity, quantum cryptography guarantees data protection by preventing unauthorized access, as any attempt to intercept quantum keys alters their state and can be immediately detected. This paper explores the application of quantum cryptographic protocols in securing cloud environments, addressing vulnerabilities posed by classical encryption techniques in the face of growing computational power. Key protocols, such as BB84 and E91, are analyzed for their potential in securing cloud infrastructure, offering enhanced confidentiality, integrity, and authentication of data. Additionally, this study highlights the integration of quantum cryptography with modern cloud architectures, overcoming challenges such as scalability and implementation cost. By employing quantum-resistant strategies, these protocols provide a robust defense against emerging threats from quantum computing, making them an essential solution for future-proof cloud security. The findings demonstrate that quantum cryptography, combined with advanced cloud security practices, can ensure secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructures capable of protecting sensitive data in an increasingly interconnected digital landscape.

Furthermore, quantum security protocols facilitate new methods for secure computation and collaboration among distributed cloud users without exposing sensitive underlying data. As cloud services continue to evolve, integrating quantum security protocols is expected to become a foundational aspect of next-generation cloud infrastructure. 4.Overview of Quantum Security Protocols These advancements are particularly crucial as traditional cryptographic techniques face growing risks from quantum computing breakthroughs, necessitating proactive adaptation in cloud security frameworks. Quantum key distribution (QKD) is among the most prominent quantum security protocols, enabling the establishment of secure encryption keys between cloud entities using fundamental principles of quantum mechanics. This protocol ensures that any eavesdropping attempt can be detected due to the inherent properties of quantum measurements, thereby greatly enhancing cloud communication security. As such, it holds promise for enabling real-time, tamper-resistant communication and may complement or even replace traditional secure key exchange mechanisms in certain cloud scenarios. Ongoing investigations also include quantum coin tossing and oblivious transfer, which aim to enable secure two-party computations and fair decision-making without trusting a single party. These protocols are progressively shaping the future of secure cloud services by addressing novel threats posed by quantum computing capabilities. 6.Quantum Secure Direct Communication This section delves deeper into the principles, implementation methods, and evolving use cases of quantum coin tossing and oblivious transfer within the context of quantum-secure cloud communication. Quantum coin tossing enables two remote parties to generate a random outcome in a way that neither can cheat or bias the result, even in the presence of advanced quantum adversaries. Oblivious transfer, on the other hand, allows a sender to transfer one of potentially many pieces of information to a receiver, where the sender remains oblivious to which piece was chosen, enhancing privacy in quantum-secure protocols. Together, these protocols form foundational building blocks for constructing more complex, privacy-preserving functionalities critical to secure quantum cloud environments. Their integration into cloud environments promises to strengthen the overall resilience of distributed computing architectures against both classical and quantum threats. As advances in quantum algorithms continue to threaten classical cryptographic schemes, there is growing urgency to explore and adopt post-quantum cryptography alternatives for securing cloud-based communications. These advances necessitate ongoing research and collaborative efforts to ensure robust, scalable, and future-proof security measures for cloud platforms in the quantum era.
