Free expansion of Bose–Einstein condensates of rubidium atoms at finite temperatures has been analyzed experimentally and theoretically. It has been shown that the interaction between condensed and noncondensed atoms is manifested most clearly by a decrease in the density of atoms in the center of the expanding cloud as compared to the theoretical prediction for a pure condensate.

Reply to the Comment on “Light Shifts of Coherent Population Trapping Resonances in a Periodically Modulated Laser Field” (JETP Letters 122, 139 (2025))

This is the response to the comment by E.A. Tsygankov on our work [V. I. Yudin, M. Yu. Basalaev, A. V. Taichenachev, O. N. Prudnikov, M. D. Radchenko, and V. G. Palchikov, JETP Lett. 122, 144 (2025)]. It has been shown that the mathematical model used by the author is physically inadequate for describing coherent population trapping resonances under typical experimental conditions of an atomic gas with a temperature of $$T \gtrsim 300$$ K. The critical influence of the choice of the relaxation operator in the ground state on the description of the light shift and the shape of the coherent trapping resonance line has also been demonstrated.

Comment on "The Transition Temperature of the Dilute Interacting Bose Gas" and on "Transition Temperature of a Uniform Bose Gas"

Adriaan M. J. Schakel

It is pointed out that first, contrary to the claim by Baym et al.[Phys. Rev. Lett 83, 1703 (1999)], the shift in the transition temperature of a weakly interacting Bose gas can be calculated perturbatively. And second, that the regime considered by Huang [Phys. Rev. Lett 83, 3770 (1999)] while addressing the same issue does not describe the Bose-Einstein condensed phase.
