Abstract

We study quantum stabilizer codes and their connection to classical block codes. In addition, different constructions of quantum stabilizer codes and methods of modifying them are presented.Two-dimensional cyclic codes are recalled and a new method of obtaining quantum codes from 2-D cyclic codes is given. We also present a method of obtaining quantum stabilizer codes using additive codes over F 4 .

Nonbinary Stabilizer Codes

Pradeep Kiran Sarvepalli, Andreas Klappenecker, Salah A. Aly

Recently, the field of quantum error-correcting codes has rapidly emerged as an important discipline. As quantum information is extremely sensitive to noise, it seems unlikely that any large scale quantum computation is feasible without quantum error-correction. In this paper we give a brief exposition of the theory of quantum stabilizer codes. We review the stabilizer formalism of quantum codes, establish the connection between classical codes and stabilizer codes and the main methods for constructing quantum codes from classical codes. In addition to the expository part, we include new results that cannot be found elsewhere. Specifically, after reviewing some important bounds for quantum codes, we prove the nonexistence of pure perfect quantum stabilizer codes with minimum distance greater than 3. Finally, we illustrate the general methods of constructing quantum codes from classical codes by explicitly constructing two new families of quantum codes and conclude by showing how to construct new quantum codes by shortening.

Quantum constacyclic codes

Xinmei Wang

A new class of quantum stabilizer codes is presented. The problem of finding stabilizer quantum-error-correcting codes can be transformed into the problem of finding additive self-orthogonal codes over the Galois field GF(4) under a trace inner product.Based on this connection, one method for constructing quantum constacyclic codes is presented by finding self-orthogonal classical constacyclic codes over the field GF(4) under a trace inner product. Finally, some examples are given. As an application of this method, quantum Hamming codes are constructed. This class of quantum codes includes well-known quantum cyclic codes.

Stabilizer codes from modified symplectic form

Tejas Gandhi, Piyush P. Kurur, Mittal, Rajat

Stabilizer codes form an important class of quantum error correcting codes which have an elegant theory, efficient error detection, and many known examples. Constructing stabilizer codes of length $n$ is equivalent to constructing subspaces of $\mathbb{F}_p^n \times \mathbb{F}_p^n$ which are "isotropic" under the symplectic bilinear form defined by $\left\langle (\mathbf{a},\mathbf{b}),(\mathbf{c},\mathbf{d}) \right\rangle = \mathbf{a}^{\mathrm{T}} \mathbf{d} - \mathbf{b}^{\mathrm{T}} \mathbf{c}$. As a result, many, but not all, ideas from the theory of classical error correction can be translated to quantum error correction. One of the main theoretical contribution of this article is to study stabilizer codes starting with a different symplectic form. In this paper, we concentrate on cyclic codes. Modifying the symplectic form allows us to generalize the previous known construction for linear cyclic stabilizer codes, and in the process, circumvent some of the Galois theoretic no-go results proved there. More importantly, this tweak in the symplectic form allows us to make use of well known error correcting algorithms for cyclic codes to give efficient quantum error correcting algorithms. Cyclicity of error correcting codes is a "basis dependent" property. Our codes are no more "cyclic" when they are derived using the standard symplectic forms (if we ignore the error correcting properties like distance, all such symplectic forms can be converted to each other via a basis transformation). Hence this change of perspective is crucial from the point of view of designing efficient decoding algorithm for these family of codes. In this context, recall that for general codes, efficient decoding algorithms do not exist if some widely believed complexity theoretic assumptions are true.

A Novel Construction of Quantum Stabilizer Codes

Shengmei Zhao

Quantum error correcting code is an efficient tool to correct and prevent quantum error. It is the basic for quantum computation and quantum communications.Taking advantage of the cyclic difference set,we present a novel approach to construct quantum stabilizer codes in this paper. It's not difficult to construct the well-known quantum code by our approach.By analyzing the property of the quantum code constructed by this method, such as ,as well as ,we find all the constructed codes are the quantum Single-bound codes, and we can use this method to encode different length information.Besides, the code rate is high.
