Abstract

We study the quantum entanglement of coupled Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillators using the formalism of thermo-field dynamics. The entanglement entropy is computed for the specific cases of two and a ring of $N$ coupled Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillators of fourth order. It is shown that the entanglement entropy depends on the temperatures, frequencies and coupling parameters of the different degrees of freedom corresponding to harmonic oscillators. We also make remarks on the appearance of instabilities of higher-derivative oscillators in the context of AdS/CFT correspondence. Finally, we advert to the information geometry theory by calculating the Fisher information metric for the considered system of coupled oscillators.

Entanglement Entropies of Coupled Harmonic Oscillators

中川, 弘一, Koichi Nakagawa

We study the quantum entanglement of systems of coupled harmonic oscillators on the basis of thermo-field dynamics (TFD).For coupled harmonic oscillators at equilibrium, the extended entanglement entropy is derived using the TFD method, and it is demonstrated to be controlled by temperature and coupling parameters. For non-equilibrium systems, in addition to temperature and coupling parameters, the time dependence of the extended entanglement entropy is calculated in accordance with the dissipative von Neumann equation, and the dissipative dynamics of the systems of coupled harmonic oscillators is discussed.Consequently, based on TFD, the physical parametrization of the entanglement entropies is confirmed in both the equilibrium and nonequilibrium cases of harmonic oscillator systems by means of the laws of thermodynamics.

Dynamics of quantum entanglement in two time-dependent coupled harmonic oscillators

Ayoub Ghaba, Radouan Hab-arrih, Elhoussine Atmani +1 more

We investigate the quantum entanglement dynamics of two coupled harmonic oscillators with a time-dependent interaction. Using the Lewis-Riesenfeld invariant method, we derive the exact analytical wave functions without any perturbative or adiabatic approximations and combine this with a phase-space analysis using the Wigner function to provide a complete description of the system's quantum state evolution. We obtain general expression form for the purity and the linear entropy $S_L=1-\mathcal{P}$ for arbitrary excitation numbers $(n,m)$, allows a systematic study of entanglement for a large class of quantum states. We show that the entanglement dynamics is very sensitive to the interplay between the detuning parameters $θ$ and $\vartheta_2$, the frequency parameter $β_0$ and the coupling strength $ε$: the increase of detuning takes the system from slow irregular oscillations to fast and regular periodic behavior, and the stronger coupling systematically enhances both the amplitude and the average value of the linear entropy. Most importantly, for the resonance case $ω_1=ω_2=1$ and strong couplings $ε\approx 0.99$, the system shows robust undamped synchronized periodic oscillations of the linear entropy for all quantum states considered, indicating preserved quantum coherence without saturation. Our findings demonstrate that linear entropy is a sensitive and practical entanglement witness, and we establish explicit analytical relations between the coupling parameters of the system and its entanglement properties, which are directly relevant to quantum information processing and the control of quantum correlations in continuous-variable systems.

Quantum entanglement entropy and classical mutual information in long-range harmonic oscillators

M. Ghasemi Nezhadhaghighi, M. A. Rajabpour

We study different aspects of quantum von Neumann and R\'enyi entanglement entropy of one-dimensional long-range harmonic oscillators that can be described by well-defined nonlocal field theories. We show that the entanglement entropy of one interval with respect to the rest changes logarithmically with the number of oscillators inside the subsystem. This is true also in the presence of different boundary conditions. We show that the coefficients of the logarithms coming from different boundary conditions can be reduced to just two different universal coefficients. We also study the effect of the mass and temperature on the entanglement entropy of the system in different situations. The universality of our results is also confirmed by changing different parameters in the coupled harmonic oscillators. We also show that more general interactions coming from general singular Toeplitz matrices can be decomposed to our long-range harmonic oscillators. Despite the long-range nature of the couplings, we show that the area law is valid in two dimensions and the universal logarithmic terms appear if we consider subregions with sharp corners. Finally, we study analytically different aspects of the mutual information such as its logarithmic dependence to the subsystem, effect of mass, and influence of the boundary. We also generalize our results in this case to general singular Toeplitz matrices and higher dimensions.

Entanglement dynamics of coupled oscillators from Gaussian states

Cemal Dinc, Onur Oktay

In this work, we explore the dynamics of entanglement of an isolated quantum system consisting of two time-dependent, coupled harmonic oscillators. Through the use of a numerical method that relies on the estimation of the system's Wigner representation by a specific Gaussian function, we investigate the time evolution of the entanglement entropy after an instant quench in the inherent parameters of the system. Besides, from the comparison of the results obtained from the analytical expression for the time-dependent von Neumann entropy with the numerically computed entropy data, the effectiveness of the numerical method is tested for a variety of angular frequency combinations. Also, we analyze how the entropy of entanglement change as a function of time.
