Physical Realization of Probabilistic Cloning Machines of Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices in Cavity QED

A scheme is proposed for the physical realization of a quantum probabilistic cloning machine.First, with two superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) embedded in a high-Q cavity used as the original and target qubits respectively, and the cavity field as the measurement qubit, the unitary evolution required for the cloning machines is realized through multiple interactions of SQUID with the cavity or classical microwave pulses. Then the state reduction is implemented by mapping the cavity state onto another SQUID and measuring the magnetic flux of the SQUID,thus realizing the exact cloning of quantum states with optimal success probability. In this scheme, two–photon Raman resonance process is used to increase the single qubit operation rate, and the total operation time is far less the time of spontaneous decay and cavity decay. Therefore this scheme is experimentally feasible.

Optical implementations of the optimal phase-covariant quantum cloning machine

Jaromı́r Fiurášek

We propose two simple implementations of the optimal symmetric $\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{1}2$ phase-covariant cloning machine for qubits. The first scheme is designed for qubits encoded into polarization states of photons and it involves a mixing of two photons on an unbalanced beam splitter. This scheme is probabilistic and the cloning succeeds with the probability $1/3.$ In the second setup, the qubits are represented by the states of Rydberg atoms and the cloning is accomplished by the resonant interaction of the atoms with a microwave field confined in a high-Q cavity. This latter approach allows for deterministic implementation of the optimal cloning transformation.

Cavity coherent-state cloning via Raman scattering

Moorad Alexanian

The Raman interaction of atoms singly traversing a two-mode cavity constitutes a quantum-cloning machine for coherent states. The quality of the two identical output coherent states is independent of the initial, albeit different, coherent state, initially present inside the cavity. The cloning of nonorthogonal states indicates that the entanglement of the output states for an arbitrary initial state is the essence of the no-cloning theorem.

The first scheme is designed for qubits encoded into polarization states of photons and it involves a mixing of two photons on an unbalanced beam splitter. This scheme is probabilistic and the cloning succeeds with the probability 1/3.1/3.1/3. This latter approach allows for deterministic implementation of the optimal cloning transformation.
