Entanglement revive and information flow within the decoherent environment

Abstract

In this paper, the dynamics of entanglement is investigated in the presence of a noisy environment. We reveal its revival behavior and probe the mechanisms of this behavior via an information-theoretic approach. By analyzing the correlation distribution and the information flow within the composite system including the qubit subsystem and a noisy environment, it has been found that the subsystem-environment coupling can induce the quasi-periodic entanglement revival. Furthermore, the dynamical relationship among tripartite correlations, bipartite entanglement and local state information is explored, which provides a new insight into the non-Markovian mechanisms during the evolution.

Distributed correlations and information flows within a hybrid multipartite quantum-classical system

Bruno Leggio, Rosario Lo Franco, Diogo O. Soares-Pinto +2 more

Understanding the non-Markovian mechanisms underlying the revivals of quantum entanglement in the presence of classical environments is central in the theory of quantum information. Tentative interpretations have been given by either the role of the environment as a control device or the concept of hidden entanglement. We address this issue from an information-theoretic point of view. To this aim, we consider a paradigmatic tripartite system, already realized in the laboratory, made of two independent qubits and a random classical field locally interacting with one qubit alone. We study the dynamical relationship between the two-qubit entanglement and the genuine tripartite correlations of the overall system, finding that collapse and revivals of entanglement correspond, respectively, to the rise and fall of the overall tripartite correlations. Interestingly, entanglement dark periods can enable plateaux of nonzero tripartite correlations. We then explain this behavior in terms of information flows among the different parties of the system. Besides showcasing the phenomenon of the freezing of overall correlations, our results provide insights on the origin of retrieval of entanglement within a hybrid quantum-classical system.

Coherence evolution of bipartite state under decoherent environment

Tao Wu, Qiong Liu, Jiadong Shi

Abstract We provide an analysis on the quantum coherence (QC) of a general two-qubit pure state interacting with a local decoherent environment. Our results show that the QC in the environment obeys a conservation relation, i.e. the coherence evolution is equal to the product of the coherence contained in the initial state and the environmental action on the maximum entangled state. This means that the coherence dynamics behaviors of the composite quantum-environment system can be observed by analyzing the environmental action. Moreover, within the Markovian environment, the QC damps monotonously, while it exhibits damped oscillations and suffers damped revivals within the non-Markovian environment. These phenomena of damped oscillations and revivals have been interpreted as memory effects of the non-Markovian environment.

Hidden entanglement, system-environment information flow and non-Markovianity

Antonio D’Arrigo, Giuliano Benenti, Rosario Lo Franco +2 more

It is known that entanglement dynamics of two non-interacting qubits, locally subjected to classical environments, may exhibit revivals. A simple explanation of this phenomenon may be provided by using the concept of hidden entanglement (HE), which signals the presence of entanglement that may be recovered without the help of nonlocal operations. Here we discuss the link between HE and the (non-Markovian) flow of classical information between the system and the environment.

DYNAMICS OF QUANTUM CORRELATIONS IN TWO-QUBIT SYSTEMS WITHIN NON-MARKOVIAN ENVIRONMENTS

Rosario Lo Franco, Bruno Bellomo, Sabrina Maniscalco +1 more

Knowledge of the dynamical behavior of correlations with no classical counterpart, like entanglement, nonlocal correlations and quantum discord, in open quantum systems is of primary interest because of the possibility to exploit these correlations for quantum information tasks. Here we review some of the most recent results on the dynamics of correlations in bipartite systems embedded in non-Markovian environments that, with their memory effects, influence in a relevant way the system dynamics and appear to be more fundamental than the Markovian ones for practical purposes. Firstly, we review the phenomenon of entanglement revivals in a two-qubit system for both independent environments and a common environment. We then consider the dynamics of quantum discord in non-Markovian dephasing channel and briefly discuss the occurrence of revivals of quantum correlations in classical environments.

Disentanglement Dynamics in Nonequilibrium Environments

Mingli Chen, Haonan Chen, Tao Han +1 more

We theoretically study the non-Markovian disentanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system coupled to nonequilibrium environments with nonstationary and non-Markovian random telegraph noise statistical properties. The reduced density matrix of the two-qubit system can be expressed as the Kraus representation in terms of the tensor products of the single qubit Kraus operators. We derive the relation between the entanglement and nonlocality of the two-qubit system which are both closely associated with the decoherence function. We identify the threshold values of the decoherence function to ensure the existences of the concurrence and nonlocal quantum correlations for an arbitrary evolution time when the two-qubit system is initially prepared in the composite Bell states and the Werner states, respectively. It is shown that the environmental nonequilibrium feature can suppress the disentanglement dynamics and reduce the entanglement revivals in non-Markovian dynamics regime. In addition, the environmental nonequilibrium feature can enhance the nonlocality of the two-qubit system. Moreover, the entanglement sudden death and rebirth phenomena and the transition between quantum and classical nonlocalities closely depend on the parameters of the initial states and the environmental parameters in nonequilibrium environments.

Non-Markovian qubit dynamics in nonequilibrium environments

Xiang-Ji Cai

We theoretically study the non-Markovian dynamics of qubit systems coupled to nonequilibrium environments with nonstationary and non-Markovian statistical properties. The reduced density matrix of the single qubit system satisfies a closed third-order differential equation with all the higher-order environmental correlations taken into account and the reduced density matrix of the two qubit system can be expressed as the Kraus representation in terms of the tensor products of the single qubit Kraus operators. We derive the relation between the entanglement and nonlocality of the two qubit system which are both closely associated with the decoherence function. We identify the threshold values of the decoherence function to ensure the existences of the concurrence and nonlocal quantum correlations for a given evolution time when the two qubit system is initially prepared in the composite Bell states and the extended Werner states, respectively. It is shown that the environmental nonstationary feature can suppress the decoherence and disentanglement dynamics and can reduce the coherence and entanglement revivals in non-Markovian dynamics regime. In addition, it is shown that the environmental non-Markovian feature can enhance the coherence revivals in the single decoherence dynamics and the entanglement revivals in the two qubit disentanglement dynamics, respectively. Furthermore, the environmental nonstationary and non-Markovian features can enhance the nonlocality of the two qubit system.
