Interference and Diffraction

Abdul Al-Azzawi

The particle nature of light is well known and has important applications. There are two accepted behaviours of light to explain the dual nature of light. In some cases, light acts like a particle, and in others, it acts like a wave. The proof of the wave nature of light came with the discovery of interference of light and diffraction. In this chapter, the wave nature of light will be studied with emphasis on two important wave phenomena, the diffraction and interference of light.

A New Nature for Light

Djamel Abdelmoula

This work is a part of unpublished ideas about fundamental physics and there evolution over time. In this paper, I started by speaking about light and its nature as the cornerstone of physics. Then we describe the evolution of ideas about light and interpretations of its nature in terms of waves and particles; A duality which lead us to suggest a new nature of light at a halfway between these two interpretations. We reinvented the photon that we renamed photillon. However, it remains to test this new approach in the interpretation of light-related phenomena. An attempt to interpret Young's interference fringes is made on the basis of this new conception of light and a new interpretation of the Planck constant has emerged naturally from this new nature.

On the Harmonic Compression of Light Wave

Tejas Chandrakant Thakare

In this paper, by taking consideration of some assumptions, the mechanism behind dual nature of light is proposed. After great wave-particle struggle physics is now reached to the fact that, light shows dual nature and in order to give possible reason behind dual nature of light I have taken little bit help from the classical mechanics. During explanation of the mechanism behind dual nature of light I have also discussed about the photoelectric effect and double slit experiment.
