Novel Lifshitz tricritical point and critical dynamics

Amnon Aharony A, Eytan Domany, Richard M. Hornreich +2 more

The d-dimensional time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau (TDGL) model is mapped onto a special (d+1)-dimensional model which exhibits a Lifshitz tricritical point (LTP). Many of the LTP critical properties follow from those of the TDGL model, and are shown to belong to a novel universality class of LTP's which results from a (previously ignored) relevant, nonlocal, quartic spin operator. These properties are analyzed with the use of scaling, an \ensuremath{\epsilon} expansion, and the n\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty} limit.

Study on the tricritical properties of bond-dilution ferromagnetic spin system with random crystal field

Yanan Zhang

In the frame of Ising model, we investigate the critical properties of bond dilution ferromagnetic spin system with random crystal field and obtain the magnetization expressions by using effective field theory. Special emphasis is placed on tricritical properties of the square lattice. At the range of concern random concentration of crystal field and bond dilution, the present system shows some new critical properties, such as fluctuation of tricritical point. We discuss in detail the influence of two disorder factors on the critical properties and give phase diagram.

Polarized superfluids near their tricritical point

Daniel E. Sheehy

We obtain a variety of predictions for the properties of population-imbalanced (or polarized) fermionic superfluids near their tricritical point. In the vicinity of the high-symmetry tricritical point, observable quantities such as the cloud shape, heat capacity, local polarization, and correlation length should exhibit distinct behavior arising from the tricritical scaling laws, as well as logarithmic corrections to scaling reflecting the marginal nature of interactions.
