Developing a Lorentz Invariant form of the Schrodinger Equation

Declan Traill

The Schrodinger equation is not Lorentz Invariant, so it cannot be applied to the wave functions of moving particles. However, the Classical Wave Equation is Lorentz Invariant and is also satisfied by particle wave functions. By using this knowledge, a Lorentz Invariant form of the Schrodinger equation can be developed that can be applied to the wave functions of moving particles.

The debate between Hendrik A. Lorentz and Schrödinger on wave mechanics

Anne J. Kox

In 1923 the Austrian Erwin Schrödinger, professor of physics in Zurich, and his Dutch colleague Hendrik Lorentz, grand old man of classical physics, engaged in a fascinating correspondence on the foundations of quantum physics. In this lecture I will go back to that year, give a sketch of the personalities of Lorentz and Schrödinger and of their respective careers, and explain the importance for the history of physics of their remarkable exchange of ideas.

Lorentz Transformations for the Schrödinger Equation

Vladimir M. Shtelen

We show that the free Schrödinger equation admits Lorentz space-time transformations when corresponding transformations of the ψ-function are nonlocal. Some consequences of this symmetry are discussed.
