Abstract

In this paper, we have investigated the dynamics of the quantum correlation between two qubits of a system composed of an arbitrary number of qubits dissipating into a common environment. Our results imply that, when the initial state of the system contains one excitation, the quantum correlation of the quantum discord and the entanglement of formation can be generated between two qubits which have no interaction with each other but are interacting with a common environment. From our analysis, we find that the dynamics of the quantum discord and the entanglement of formation depends not only on the scaled time but also on the size of the system. The larger the size of the system is, the less the quantum discord and the entanglement of formation is generated. By using a comparison between the quantum discord and the entanglement of formation, we find that the quantum discord is more robust to the size of the system than the entanglement of formation is, in the sense that the former decreases more slowly with an increase of the size of the system than the latter does. In addition, the case of the initial state with two excitations is discussed.

Quantum correlation dynamics of two qubits in independent reservoirs with initial system-reservoir correlations

Xin-Ping Ma, Yue Sun, Jin‐Liang Guo

Abstract The dynamics of entanglement and quantum discord (QD) between two two-level atoms interacting with two dissipative coupled cavities in the presence of initial atom-cavity correlations is investigated. In comparison with the result of the initial factorized state, we show that the initial state contained quantum correlation of atom-cavity is most robust against the dissipative environment, and the initial atom-cavity correlations, especially the quantum correlation, play a constructive role in the generation of atomic entanglement and QD. Simultaneously, the comparison between Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics, and the influences of inter-cavity hopping rate are also taken into account and analyzed.

The transfer dynamics of quantum correlation between systems and reservoirs

Zhong‐Xiao Man, Yun‐Jie Xia, Nguyen Ba An

In this work, we study the dynamics of quantum correlation (QC) in terms of quantum discord and its transfer for multiqubit systems in dissipative environments. At first, we investigate the dynamics of bipartite QC contained in a three-qubit system that are initially prepared in an extended W-like state with each qubit coupled to an independent reservoir. Subsequently, we study a realistic quantum network of several remote nodes each of which contains two qubits in contact with a common reservoir. For the simplest case of two nodes, we study the dynamics of QC and its transfer from the initially correlated system to the reservoirs and other degrees of freedom. In both models, we pay particular attention to the independent evolution and transfer of QC without the participation of entanglement when the systems of interest are initially prepared in unentangled states. We also observe the occurrence of sudden changes of quantum discord when the systems are initially in mixed states.

Quantum discord dynamics in the presence of initial system–cavity correlations

Ying-Jie Zhang, Xu‐Bo Zou, Yun‐Jie Xia +1 more

We analyze the roles of initial correlations between the two-qubit system and a dissipative cavity on quantum discord dynamics of two qubits. Considering two initial system-cavity states, we show that the initial system-cavity correlations not only can initially increase the two-qubit quantum discord but also would lead to a larger long-time quantum discord asymptotic value. Moreover, quantum discord due to initial correlations is more robust than the case of the initial factorized state. Finally, we show the initial correlations' importance for dynamics behaviors of mutual information and classical correlation.

Dissipative dynamics of quantum discord under quantum chaotic environment

Yuan Xu, Wanli Yang, Mang Feng

We investigate the dissipative dynamics of quantum discord in a decoherence model with two initially entangled qubits in addition to a quantum kicked top. The two qubits are uncoupled during the period of our study and one of them interacts with the quantum kicked top. We find that the long-time behavior of quantum discord could be well described by the fidelity decay of the quantum kicked top; for short-time behavior, however, the phase of the amplitude of the fidelity decay is necessary to provide more specific information about the system. We have made a comparison between the quantum kicked top and the multi-mode oscillator system in describing the environment, and also compared the dynamics of the entanglement with that of quantum discord.

Entanglement versus quantum discord in two coupled double quantum dots

F. F. Fanchini, L. K. Castelano, A. O. Caldeira

We study the dynamics of quantum correlations of two coupled double quantum dots containing two excess electrons. The dissipation is included through the contact with an oscillator bath. We solve the Redfield master equation in order to determine the dynamics of the quantum discord (QD) and the entanglement of formation (EoF). Based on our results, we find that the QD is more resistant to dissipation than the EoF for such a system. We observe that this characteristic is related to whether the oscillator bath is common to both qubits or not and to the form of the interaction Hamiltonian. Moreover, our results show that the QD might be finite, even for higher temperatures in the asymptotic limit.

Quantum discord for a central two-qubit system coupled to an XY -spin-chain environment

Ben‐Qiong Liu, Bin Shao, Jian Zou

We investigate the dynamic behaviors of quantum discord for a central two-qubit system coupled to an $\mathit{XY}$-spin-chain environment. In the weak-coupling regime, we show that the quantum discord for the two central qubits can become minimized rapidly close to the critical point of a quantum phase transition. By considering the two qubits that are initially prepared in the Werner state, we study the evolution of the quantum discord and that of entanglement under the same conditions. Our results imply that entanglement can disappear completely after a finite time, while the quantum discord decreases and tends to be a stable value according to the initial-state parameter for a very-long-time interval. In this sense, the quantum discord is more robust than entanglement for the quantum system exposed to the environment. The relation between the quantum correlations and the classical correlation is also shown for two particular cases.
