Abstract

NCP positive linear maps play important rules in detecting entanglement of states in composite quantum systems.A kind of NCP positive maps are studied. It is shown that these positive linear maps Φ are decomposable and not 2-positive.A necessary and sufficient condition is given for the entanglement witnesses W Φ arising from such Φ to be optimal.

A characterization of positive linear maps and criteria of entanglement for quantum states

Jinchuan Hou

Let H and K be (finite- or infinite-dimensional) complex Hilbert spaces. A characterization of positive completely bounded normal linear maps from into is given, which particularly gives a characterization of positive elementary operators including all positive linear maps between matrix algebras. This characterization is then applied to give a representation of quantum channels (operations) between infinite-dimensional systems. A necessary and sufficient criterion of separability is given which shows that a state ρ on H ⊗ K is separable if and only if (Φ⊗ I )ρ ⩾ 0 for all positive finite-rank elementary operators Φ. Examples of NCP and indecomposable positive linear maps are given and are used to recognize some entangled states that cannot be recognized by the PPT criterion and the realignment criterion.

Entanglement Witnesses Arising from Exposed Positive Linear Maps

Kil-Chan Ha, Seung-Hyeok Kye

We consider entanglement witnesses arising from positive linear maps which generate exposed extremal rays. We show that every entangled state can be detected by one of these witnesses, and this witness detects a unique set of entangled states among those. Therefore, they provide a minimal set of witnesses to detect any kind of entanglement in a sense. Furthermore, if those maps are indecomposable then they detect large classes of entangled states with positive partial transposes which have nonempty relative interiors in the cone generated by all PPT states. We also provide a one-parameter family of indecomposable positive linear maps which generate exposed extremal rays. This gives the first examples of such maps in three-dimensional matrix algebra.

Positive tensor products of maps and n -tensor-stable positive qubit maps

Sergey N. Filippov, Kamil Yu. Magadov

Abstract We analyze positivity of a tensor product of two linear qubit maps, Φ 1 ⊗ Φ 2 . Positivity of maps Φ 1 and Φ 2 is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for positivity of Φ 1 ⊗ Φ 2 . We find a non-trivial sufficient condition for positivity of the tensor product map beyond the cases when both Φ 1 and Φ 2 are completely positive or completely co-positive. We find necessary and (separately) sufficient conditions for n -tensor-stable positive qubit maps, i.e. such qubit maps Φ that Φ ⊗ n is positive. Particular cases of 2- and 3-tensor-stable positive qubit maps are fully characterized, and the decomposability of 2-tensor-stable positive qubit maps is discussed. The case of non-unital maps is reduced to the case of appropriate unital maps. Finally, n -tensor-stable positive maps are used in characterization of multipartite entanglement, namely, in the entanglement depth detection.

0 A CHARACTERIZATION OF POSITIVE LINEAR MAPS AND CRITERIA OF ENTANGLEMENT FOR QUANTUM STATES

Jinchuan Hou

Let $H$ and $K$ be (finite or infinite dimensional) complex Hilbert spaces. A characterization of positive completely bounded normal linear maps from ${\mathcal B}(H)$ into ${\mathcal B}(K)$ is given, which particularly gives a characterization of positive elementary operators including all positive linear maps between matrix algebras. This characterization is then applied give a representation of quantum channels (operations) between infinite-dimensional systems. A necessary and sufficient criterion of separability is give which shows that a state $\rho$ on $H\otimes K$ is separable if and only if $(\Phi\otimes I)\rho\geq 0$ for all positive finite rank elementary operators $\Phi$. Examples of NCP and indecomposable positive linear maps are given and are used to recognize some entangled states that cannot be recognized by the PPT criterion and the realignment criterion.

Optimal witnesses detecting positive-partial-transpose entangled states in Cn⊗Cn

Kil-Chan Ha

Recently, Qi and Hou [Phys. Rev. A 85, 022334 (2012)] provided optimal entanglement witnesses without the spanning property. These witnesses are associated with indecomposable positive linear maps, but whether partial transposes of these witnesses are also optimal has not been evaluated. We show that partial transposes of these entanglement witnesses have the spanning property and that these witnesses are indeed optimal witnesses detecting positive-partial- transposed entangled states (nondecomposable optimal entanglement witnesses).

Optimality for indecomposable entanglement witnesses

Kil-Chan Ha, Seung-Hyeok Kye

We examine various notions related to the optimality for entanglement witnesses arising from Choi-type positive linear maps. We found examples of optimal entanglement witnesses which are nondecomposable but are not ``nondecomposable optimal entanglement witnesses'' in the sense of Lewenstein, Kraus, Cirac, and Horodecki [Phys. Rev. A 62, 052310 (2000)]. We suggest using the terms PPTES witness and optimal PPTES witness in place of ``nondecomposable entanglement witness'' and ``nondecomposable optimal entanglement witnesses'' in order to avoid possible confusion. Here, PPTES refers entangled states with positive partial transposes. We also found examples of nonextremal optimal entanglement witnesses which are indecomposable.
