Abstract

According to the private netwo rk characteristics, BB84 quantum key distribution protocol( QKD) is modified and presents a new QKD protocol, named BB84-PN, which is applied in private network. Through identity authentication and quantum physics, the transmission security of BB84-PN is improved. Also, the communication efficiency is improved by consulting on quantum key transmission rule in communication process.

The Improvement of QKD Scheme Based on BB84 Protocol

Huifang Li, Li-Xin Zhu, Kai Wang +1 more

In order to solve the low key distribution efficiency problem of the BB84 protocol, an improved BB84 quantum key distribution scheme is presented in this paper. Firstly the same polarization basis is used by the sender and the receiver with the consistent agreement. This process could make quantum key distribution rate higher. Then signature combined with the error correction method based on the odd and even parity is used to ensure the safety of the transmission. The analyses results indicate that the advantage of the improved scheme lies in that the all photons sent to Bob by Alice are useful. It can not only reduce the time extracting the original key, but also solve the authentication problem in the process of communication. The key distribution efficiency is two times of the original BB84 protocol improved scheme.

En-BB84: Advancements in Secure Quantum Key Distribution with Improved Error Resilience and Built-in Authentication

Yashwanth Venkat, D Preetha Evangeline, P Anandha Kumar

Quantum key distribution (QKD) is a method that enables secure communication between two parties by applying the ideas of quantum physics. By minimizing information leakage that can happen during the key generation process, privacy amplification is a technique used to improve the security of QKD. The technique involves processing the raw key obtained from QKD through a randomization procedure to remove any residual information that may have been leaked during the quantum transmission. While privacy amplification can significantly improve the security of QKD, the effectiveness of the technique is limited by the quality of the initial raw key. The BB84 QKD protocol has been improved with the proposed En-BB84 protocol, which includes built-in authentication and integrity checks. The En-BB84 protocol ensures secure distribution of secret keys and protects against tampering by attackers. Key distillation and error correction techniques are employed to extract a shorter, more secure shared secret key and correct errors introduced during qubit transmission. The protocol utilizes a four-state QKD approach, expanding on the traditional two-state scheme of BB84. A simulation of the En-BB84 protocol is demonstrated using a quantum circuit implemented with Qiskit in Python. The circuit employs various gates and operations, including Hadamard, CX, controlled swap, and RZ gates, to achieve encoding and error correction. Furthermore, we have designed a better protocol with improved error rates by incorporating improvisations on the BB84 protocol. Experimental results indicate the successful integration of the B92 error correction scheme into the modified BB84 protocol, enhancing the security and performance of QKD systems.

Implemetation of BB84 quantum key distribution protocol’s with attacks.

Nur Atiqah Muhammad, Zuriati Ahmad Zukarnain

Quantum cryptography is basically based on a trusted channel in communication between two parties compared to classical channel. Recently, Quantum Key Distribution (QKD has become more secure transmission method used to transmit secret key between two legitimate parties. This paper discusses the implementation of QKD protocol (BB84 protocol), which is widely used today. The implementation simulates the communication of two parties who wish to share a secret key with the existing of eavesdropper. The existing of eavesdropper is simulated with two kinds of attacks, which is use as parameter to measure the length of final key agreed by both authenticated parties at the end of the communication. This paper also discuss about future works to fully implement the shared secret key.

Quantum Key Distribution: Simulation and Characterizations

Omer K. Jasim Mohammad, Safia Abbas, El-Sayed M. El-Horbaty +1 more

All traditional cryptographic algorithms used in the network communication environments, relied on mathematical models and computational assumptions, are actually unsafe and apt by many attackers (quantum and man-in-the-middle attacks). Therefore, nowadays Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) promises a secure key agreement by using quantum mechanical systems. QKD becomes a significant trend of new cryptographic revolution. This paper explains how cryptography exploits the quantum mechanics in order to achieve an encryption/decryption process. Additionally, this paper provides a standard simulation for QKD-BB84 protocol and describes improvement key generation and key distribution mechanisms. Then, validation, results and efficiency of BB84 protocol are presented using different security configurations. Finally, our results indicated that the QKD is susceptible to corporate with different security applications and achieve the key availability for such applications. However, it suffers from the higher rate of authentication cost.

A quantum key distribution protocol based on LDPC error correcting codes

Wei Jia, Ying Zhang, Hao Cheng Yu +1 more

Quantum encryption guarantees the absolute security of key distribution from the physical mechanism. However, in the process of quantum key distribution (QKD), quantum channel noise will reduce the transmission efficiency. Quantum low-density parity check (quantum LDPC) code has become a hot research topic of quantum error correcting code due to its great flexibility in the choice of code length and code rate and its dependence on sparse graphs. In order to improve the transmission reliability, a QKD protocol based on BB84 and quantum LDPC code is designed. First, we construct a quantum LDCP error correcting code. Then we utilize the error correcting code and BB84 to construct our QKD protocol. Finally, we analyze the influence of the quantum LDPC code on the proposed protocol. The results show that the key transmission efficiency of the our protocol is improved, and the validity of the QKD protocol based on BB84 and quantum LDPC codes in noisy quantum channels is verified.

A Shared Secret Key Initiated by EPR Authentication and Qubit Transmission Channels

Abdulbast A. Abushgra, Khaled M. Elleithy

Quantum key distribution (QKD) is an innovative solution in the cryptography world to prevent the information leakage that can sometimes be deliberate. Several QKD protocols were recently presented for building a secure shared key, of which the BB84 protocol is one of those interesting protocols. The authentication between the communicating parties is one of the issues that cause a huge argument. Furthermore, the current well-known QKD protocols are not yet ready to realize the personality of either the sender or the receiver, although the QKD protocol is already protected by the rules of physics and quantum mechanics to detect any interruption. This paper introduces a new QKD protocol that utilizes two quantum channels to provide authenticated communications for legitimate parties. Moreover, the proposed QKD protocol uses two type of physical behaviors, entanglement and superposition states. The entangled states are utilized to confirm the authentication between the end users, while the superposition states carry the secret key that will be shared between the users.
