OCCUPATION RENORMALIZED HARTREE-FOCK APPROXIMATION IN LIPKIN MODEL

Abstract

The occupation renormalized Hartree-Fock single particle potential is extended to include the 'particle' state occupation. The exact solution, the solution of the occupation renormalized Hartree-Fock approximation and that of the Hartree-Fock approximation are calculated in Lipkin Model. It turns out that the RHF solution is more close to the exact one than the HF solution. The effect of occupation probability depends on the strength of the interaction of the two body term.

PARITY-PROJECTED RESONATING HARTREE-FOCK APPROXIMATION TO THE LIPKIN MODEL

Seiya Nishiyama, Moriyoshi Ido, Kazuhiro Ishida

An exact eigenstate of the Lipkin-model Hamiltonian has a parity-symmetry. The resonating Hartree-Fock (Res-HF) ground-state wave function however breaks the parity-symmetry. To restore the parity-symmetry, we develop a parity-projected (P-P) Res-HF approximation to the Lipkin model. The P-P Res-HF wave function is superposed by two P-P Slater determinants. Self-consistent calculation is carried out so as to optimize the P-P Res-HF energy functional. A Res-HF ground state with definite parity brings us the ground-state energy much nearer to the exact one than that the Res-HF and explains most of the ground-state correlation energy. We also show behaviour of P-P Res-HF orbital energies and mixing coefficients calculated by the P-P Res-HF approximation and compare them with those calculated by the parity-unprojected Res-HF approximation. From this comparison, we find very interesting relations between them which have never been seen in the parity-unprojected Res-HF calculation.

Stationary Solution of a Time Dependent Density Matrix Formalism

M. Tohyama

A stationary solution of a time-dependent density-matrix formalism, which is an extension of the time-dependent Hartree-Fock theory to include the effects of two-body correlations, is obtained for the Lipkin model hamiltonian, using an adiabatic treatment of the two-body interaction. It is found that the obtained result is a reasonable approximation for the exact solution of the model.

Systematic treatment of correlations in a generalized Hartree-Fock approximation

Antonios Gonis, T. C. Schulthess

The Hartree-Fock (HF) approximation is generalized to the study of n -particle states, taking correlation effects in interacting quantum-mechanical many-particle systems systematically into account. The case of n = 2 is developed explicitly. It is shown that the form of the HF equations remains essentially the same as in the usual formulation, but with appropriate interpretations of various parameters in terms of n -particle, rather than single-particle, states. We show results of calculations for model systems that illustrate the power of the method when compared to ordinary versions of the HF treatment.

Correlations studies in the q-deformed time-dependent Hartree-Fock approximation

Sidney S. Avancini, F. Cruz, Débora Peres Menezes +1 more

In this work we investigate the differences arising in the one-body operator and the correlation parameter when the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model is deformed. We calculate these functions exactly and by means of the time-dependent Hartree-Fock approximation (TDHF). We observe that the exact and the TDHF results are much closer to each other in the deformed case.

Time-dependent Hartree-Fock dynamics and phase transition in Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model

Kit-Keung Kan, Peter C. Lichtner, Maria Dworzecka +1 more

The time-dependent Hartree-Fock solutions of the two-level Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model are studied by transforming the time-dependent Hartree-Fock equations into Hamilton's canonical form and analyzing the qualitative structure of the Hartree-Fock energy surface in the phase space. It is shown that as the interaction strength increases these time-dependent Hartree-Fock solutions undergo a qualitative change associated with the ground state phase transition previously studied in terms of coherent states. For twobody interactions stronger than the critical value, two types of time-dependent Hartree-Fock solutions (the "librations" and "rotations" in Hamilton's mechanics) exist simultaneously, while for weaker interactions only the rotations persist. It is also shown that the coherent states with the maximum total pseudospin value are determinants, so that time-dependent Hartree-Fock analysis is equivalent to the coherent state method.NUCLEAR STRUCTURE Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model, TDHF, transformation of TDHF equations to Hamilton's canonical form, coherent states, ground state phase transition.

Time-Dependent Hartree-Fock and Functional Approaches. I: A Schematic Model

A. Kuriyama

With the use of the Lipkin model as an illustration, the time-dependent Hartree-Fock method is investigated from the viewpoint of the functional approach. The main concerning is put on the procedure of quantization. We discuss how the quantization related the time-dependent Hartree-Fock field to the exact solution.
