Abstract

By studying the dynamical evolution of the bipartite two-level system which interacts with external environment,we analyze the reduced density matrix for an arbitrary initial state of the bipartite two-level system. Moreover,we calculate the initial state reduced density matrix with Werner-like state.Further,we analyze quantitatively variation law of entanglement of the bipartite two-level system with the expression of Concurrence in the bosonic ohmic and bosonic supraohmic environment at zero temperature as the parameters t,r and p change. Finally,we conclude that in the same condition, entanglement sudden death time under the bosonic supraohmic environment at zero temperature is more than that under the bosonic ohmic environment at zero temperature.

The entanglement dynamics of the bipartite quantum system: toward entanglement sudden death

Wei Cui, Zairong Xi, Yu Pan

We investigate the entanglement dynamics of the bipartite quantum system between two qubits with the dissipative environment. We begin with the standard Markovian master equation in the Lindblad form and the initial state which is prepared in the extended Werner-like state: ρ Φ AB (0). We examine the conditions for entanglement sudden death (ESD) and calculate the corresponding ESD time by the Wootters concurrence. We observe that ESD is determined by the parameters such as the mean occupation number of the environment N , amount of initial entanglement α and the purity r . For N = 0, we get the analytical expressions of both ESD condition and ESD time. For N > 0 we give a theoretical analysis that ESD always occurs, and simulate the concurrence as a function of γ 0 t and one of the parameters N , α and r .

Environmentally induced effects on a bipartite two-level system: Geometric phase and entanglement properties

Fernando C. Lombardo, Paula I. Villar

We calculate the geometric phase of a bipartite two-level system coupled to an external environment. We analyze the reduced density matrix for an arbitrary initial state of the composite system and compute the correction to the unitary geometric phase through a kinematic approach. In all cases considered, we observe a similar structure as a function of the degree of the entanglement of the initial state. Further, we compute the entanglement entropy and concurrence of the bipartite state and analyze if there is any relation among these quantities and the geometric phase acquired during the nonunitary system's evolution. Finally, we discuss the results obtained.

Dynamical phases for the evolution of the entanglement between two oscillators coupled to the same environment

Juan Pablo Paz, Augusto J. Roncaglia

We study the dynamics of the entanglement between two oscillators that are initially prepared in a general two-mode Gaussian state and evolve while coupled to the same environment. In a previous paper, we showed that there are three qualitatively different dynamical phases for the entanglement in the long-time limit: sudden death, sudden death and revival, and no sudden death [Paz and Roncaglia, Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 220401 (2008)]. Here we generalize and extend those results along several directions: We analyze the fate of entanglement for an environment with a general spectral density providing a complete characterization of the evolution for Ohmic, sub-Ohmic, and super-Ohmic environments. We consider two different models for the interaction between the system and the environment (one where the coupling is through position and another where the coupling is symmetric in position and momentum). Finally, we show that for nonresonant oscillators, the final entanglement is independent of the initial state and may be nonzero at very low temperatures.

Entanglement dynamics of a pure bipartite system in dissipative environments

Rabia Tahira, Manzoor Ikram, Tasnim Azim +1 more

We investigate the phenomenon of sudden death of entanglement in a bipartite system subjected to dissipative environments with arbitrary initial pure entangled state between two atoms. We find that in a vacuum reservoir the presence of the state where both atoms are in excited states is a necessary condition for the sudden death of entanglement. Otherwise entanglement remains for an infinite time and decays asymptotically with the decay of individual qubits. For pure 2-qubit entangled states in a thermal environment, we observe that the sudden death of entanglement always happens. The sudden death time of the entangled states is related to the temperature of the reservoir and the initial preparation of the entangled states.

Geometric phase and quantum correlations for a bipartite two-level system

Fernando C. Lombardo, Paula I. Villar

We calculate the geometric phase of a bipartite two-level system coupled to an external environment. We compute the correction to the unitary geometric phase through a kinematic approach. To this end, we analyse the reduced density matrix of the bipartite system after tracing over the environmental degrees of freedom, for arbitrary initial states of the composite system. In all cases considered, the correction to the unitary phase has a similar structure as a function of the degree of the entanglement of the initial state. In the case of a maximally entangled state (MES), the survival phase is only the topological phase, and there is no correction induced by the environments. Further, we compute the quantum discord and concurrence of the bipartite state and analyse possible relations among these quantities and the geometric phase acquired during the non-unitary system's evolution.

Dynamics of two qubits in common environment

E. N. Bratus’, Leonid Andreevich Pastur

We consider the entanglement evolution of two qubits embedded into disordered multiconnected environment. We model the environment and its interaction with qubits by large random matrices allowing for a possibility to describe environments of meso- and even nanosize. We obtain general formulas for the time dependent reduced density matrix of the qubits corresponding to several cases of the qubit-environment interaction and initial condition. We then work out an analog of the Born–Markov approximation to find the evolution of the widely used entanglement quantifiers: the concurrence, the negativity and the quantum discord. We show that even in this approximation the time evolution of the reduced density matrix can be non-Markovian, thereby describing certain memory effects due to the backaction of the environment on qubits. In particular, we find the vanishing of the entanglement (Entanglement Sudden Death) at finite moments and its revivals (Entanglement Sudden Birth). Our results, partly known and partly new, can be viewed as a manifestation of the universality of certain properties of decoherent qubit evolution which have been found previously in various versions of bosonic macroscopic environment.
