Abstract

Based on electron spin in semiconductor quantum dot,we implement a quantum control-NOT gate without using spin-spin interaction. The electron spin state is selected as qubit state, and only the single qubit operation is used in our scheme.

Implementing controlled-NOT gate based on free spin qubits with semiconductor quantum-dot array

Yin-Zhong Wu, Wei-Min Zhang

Based on electron spins in semiconductor quantum dots as qubits, a new quantum controlled-NOT (CNOT) gate is constructed in solid nanostructure without resorting to spin-spin interactions. Single-electron tunneling technology and coherent quantum-dot cellular-automaton architecture are used to generate an ancillary charge entangled state. Using the ancillary charge entangled state as an intermediate state, we obtain a spin entangled state and design a CNOT gate by using only single-spin rotations.

Universal Quantum Gates based on Quantum Dots

Yash Tiwari, Vishvendra Singh Poonia

In the last decade, a lot of effort have gone to find the most appropriate physical implementation of quantum computer. Quantum dot based system is one of the most promising system owing to its integrability with classical computation hardware and its versatility in realizing qubits and quantum gates. In this work, we propose a model for quantum dot based realization of qubits and quantum gates. The proposed system makes use of semiconductor hetrostructure based quantum dots and gate voltages to confine electrons and thus defining the qubits. Electron spin resonance is used to manipulate the spin state of the electrons. We implement single, double and triple qubit systems and two most widely used universal sets of quantum gates. We show full control of Bloch sphere in single qubit system, CNOT gate implementation in double qubit system and a novel way to implement Toffoli gate in triple qubit system.

Free spin quantum computation with semiconductor nanostructures

Weimin Zhang, Yin‐Zhong Wu, Chopin Soo

Taking the excess electron spin in a unit cell of semiconductor multiple quantum-dot structure as a qubit, we can implement scalable quantum computation without resorting to spin-spin interactions. The technique of single electron tunnelings and the structure of quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) are used to create a charge entangled state of two electrons which is then converted into spin entanglement states by using single spin rotations. Deterministic two-qubit quantum gates can also be manipulated using only single spin rotations with help of QCA. A single-short read-out of spin states can be realized by coupling the unit cell to a quantum point contact.

Universal quantum computation with electron spins in quantum dots based on superpositions of spacetime paths and Coulomb blockade

Cyrus C. Y. Lin, Chopin Soo, Yin‐Zhong Wu +1 more

Using electrostatic gates to control the electron positions, we present a new controlled-NOT gate based on quantum dots. The qubit states are chosen to be the spin states of an excess conductor electron in the quantum dot; and the main ingredients of our scheme are the superpositions of space-time paths of electrons and the effect of Coulomb blockade. All operations are performed only on individual quantum dots and are based on fundamental interactions. Without resorting to spin-spin terms or other assumed interactions, the scheme can be realized with a dedicated circuit and a necessary number of quantum dots. Gate fidelity of the quantum computation is also presented.

Quantum computation in semiconductor quantum dots of electron-spin asymmetric anisotropic exchange

Xiang Hao, Shiqun Zhu

The universal quantum computation is obtained when there exists asymmetric anisotropic exchange between electron spins in coupled semiconductor quantum dots. The asymmetric Heisenberg model can be transformed into the isotropic model through the control of two local unitary rotations for the realization of essential quantum gates. The rotations on each qubit are symmetrical and depend on the strength and orientation of asymmetric exchange. The implementation of the axially symmetric local magnetic fields can assist the construction of quantum logic gates in anisotropic coupled quantum dots. This proposal can efficiently use each physical electron spin as a logical qubit in the universal quantum computation.

QUANTUM COMPUTATION BASED ON ELECTRON SPIN QUBITS WITHOUT SPIN-SPIN INTERACTION

Yin‐Zhong Wu, Wei-Min Zhang, Chopin Soo

Using electron spin states in a unit cell of three semiconductor quantum dots as qubit states, a scalable quantum computation scheme is advocated without invoking qubit-qubit interactions. Single electron tunneling technology and coherent quantum-dot cellular automata architecture are used to generate an ancillary charge entangled state which is then converted into spin entangled state. Without using charge measurement and ancillary qubits, we demonstrate universal quantum computation based on free electron spin and coherent quantum-dot cellular automata.
