Abstract

By Lanczos numerical method. The influence of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya(D-M) interaction on the dimer-ization in Spin-Peierls systems is studied. The ground sate of the Spin-Peierls system is still a dimerized phase when D-M interaction is present. The results show that the uniform D-M interaction is always against dimeriza-tion but the staggered D-M interaction may act in favour of or against dimerization. There exists a critical point where the staggered D-M interaction has no influence on dimerization.

The symmetric and antisymmetric superexchange interactions in spin-Peierls system

Liu Hai-Lian, Zhiguo Wang, 杨成全 +2 more

The influences of Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya (DM) interaction and Kaplan–Shekhtman–Entinwohlman–Aharony (KSEA) interaction on the dimerization of a spin-Peierls system are investigated theoretically by using the Lanczos numerical method. The ground state of the spin-Peierls system is still dimerized phase when both of the DM and the KSEA interactions have the same value with Heisenberg interaction. It is found that the KSEA interaction and uniform DM interaction are always against systemic dimerization, but the staggered DM interaction acts in favour of dimerization. Furthermore, the influences of the DM and the KSEA interactions are also studied in terms of the ground state index rate and the energy gap index rate of the dimerized Heisenberg system. The results show that the DM interaction makes the index rates larger, while the KSEA interaction makes them smaller.

Spin-Peierls instability in a quantum spin chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction

Oleg Derzhko, Johannes Richter, O. Zaburannyi

We analysed the ground-state energy of some dimerized spin-1/2 transverse XX and Heisenberg chains with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction to study the influence of the latter interaction on the spin-Peierls instability. We found that DM interaction may act either in favour of the dimerization or against it. The actual result depends on the dependence of the DM interaction on the distortion amplitude in comparison with such dependence for the isotropic exchange interaction.

Ground state properties of spin-Peierls ladder model with interchain superexchange interactions

Hailian Liu, Zhiguo Wang, Yang Cheng-quan +2 more

The ground-state properties of spin-Peierls ladder model with interchain Heisenberg interaction and interchain Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya(DM)interaction are studied by Lanczos numerical method. We mainly concentrate on the influence of interchain Heisenberg interaction and interchain DM interaction on system dimerization. The results show that these two interchain interations always act against the dimerization of the system, and they can make system ground state dimerization diminishing, which means that increasing the system dimensions may reduce system dimerization, even destroy the dimerization phase.

Ground state properties of the one-dimensional unperiod spin-Peierls model with antisymmetric superexchange interaction

Ground state properties of the one-dimensional unperiod spin-Peilers model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya(DM)interaction are studied by Lanczos numerical method. It is shown that the DM interaction acts against dimerization when the DM interaction is irrelative with dimerization in period. On the other hand, the DM interaction is favor for dimerization when DM interaction depends on the dimerization in period.Otherwise,We also study the influence of DM interaction on system dimerization in unperiod when DM interaction depend on crystal lattice aberration in different degree,And we found that DM interaction has no influence on system dimerization in a special value δ_c,At the same time, the value in both side of the δ_c vary by different trend.

Uniform and staggered magnetizations induced by Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions in isolated and coupled spin- 1∕2 dimers in a magnetic field

Shin Miyahara, J.-B. Fouet, Salvatore R. Manmana +5 more

We investigate the interplay of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions and an external field in spin-$1∕2$ dimers. For isolated dimers and at low field, we derive simple expressions for the staggered and uniform magnetizations which show that the orientation of the uniform magnetization can deviate significantly from that of the external field. In fact, in the limit where the $\mathbf{D}$ vector of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction is parallel to the external field, the uniform magnetization actually becomes perpendicular to the field. For larger fields, we show that the staggered magnetization of an isolated dimer has a maximum close to one-half the polarization, with a large maximal value of $0.35g{\ensuremath{\mu}}_{B}$ in the limit of very small Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. We investigate the effect of interdimer coupling in the context of ladders with density-matrix renormalization-group (DMRG) calculations and show that, as long as the values of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and of the exchange interaction are compatible with respect to the development of a staggered magnetization, the simple picture that emerges for isolated dimers is also valid for weakly coupled dimers with minor modifications. The results are compared with torque measurements on ${\mathrm{Cu}}_{2}{({\mathrm{C}}_{5}{\mathrm{H}}_{12}{\mathrm{N}}_{2})}_{2}{\mathrm{Cl}}_{4}$.
