Lévy path integrals of particle on circle and some applications

Jianping Dong, Han Geng

Fractional quantum mechanics in the non-relativistic case is described by the space-fractional Schrödinger equation containing the fractional Riesz operator, which is a non-local operator. The non-locality makes it difficult to solve the fractional Schrödinger equation in the local potentials. In this paper, we study the solution of the fractional Schrödinger equation of a free particle moving on a circle by use of the Lévy path integrals approach. We present the Lévy path integrals propagator of a particle on circle and then use it to get the wave functions and energy eigenvalues of the free particle case. In addition, the Laplace transform, energy-time transform, and momentum representation of the free particle kernel are also obtained. The results of this paper contain the ones in standard quantum mechanics as special cases. The problem of a particle on circle is a fundamental problem of path integrals with topological constraints in quantum systems, and the method of Lévy path integrals can be generalized to study more complex local potentials.

Path Integral Study of Free Particles under the Principle of Measurement

嘉铭 罗

本文研究的是量子力学中关于自由粒子运动的路径积分问题,通过将测度理论中的方法引入对自由粒子运动路径的描述,从而构建不同测度意义下路径积分量之间的关系。 In this paper, the path integral of free particle motion in quantum mechanics is studied. By introducing the method of measure theory into the description of free particle motion path, therefore, the relationship between the path product components in different measurement sense is constructed.

Propagation of a Dirac particle. A path integral approach

Takashi Ichinose, Hiroshi Tamura

Rigorous path integral formulas are given which represent, in two space-time dimensions, the fundamental solution of the Cauchy problem for the Dirac equation as well as the retarded and advanced propagators for the Dirac particle. It is also shown that the theory can be applied to a free particle and a particle in a central electric field in four space-time dimensions and reveals some aspects of the path integral. Heuristically discussed is the connection with the phase space path integral or Hamiltonian path integral.

Path integral solution of the Schrödinger equation in curvilinear coordinates: A straightforward procedure

J. LaChapelle

A new axiomatic formulation of path integrals is used to construct a path integral solution of the Schrödinger equation in curvilinear coordinates. An important feature of the formalism is that a coordinate transformation in the variables of the wavefunction does not imply a change of variable of integration in the path integral. Consequently, a transformation from Euclidean to curvilinear coordinates is simple to handle; there is no need to introduce ‘‘quantum corrections’’ into the action functional. Furthermore, the paths are differentiable: hence, issues related to stochastic paths do not arise. The procedure for constructing the path integral solution of the Schrödinger equation is straightforward. The case of the Schrödinger equation in spherical coordinates for a free particle is presented in detail.

Quantization on the circle

M. Merad

We present, via the path-integral approach, the quantum study of a particle without spin constrained to move on a circle and subjected to the action of an external field (V, A). In the first stage, we follow the Faddeev–Senjanovic constraints technique that is essentially based on the Dirac algorithm; and in the second stage, we use the path-integral coherent state relative to the circle, compatible with the topological properties. In the two cases, the free particle and the problem of the magnetic field are shown as an illustrative calculation.PACS Nos.: 03.65–w, 03.65Ca, 03.65.Db

Path Integral Approach to the Propagator for a Charged Particle in a Time-Dependent Electromagnetic Field

Jing‐Bo Xu, Yu-jun ZHAO, Xiao-Chun Gao

A path integral method is used to study the time evolution of a three-dimensional time-dependent system. The propagator for a charged particle in a time-dependent magnetic field and quadrupolar electric potential is obtained.
