Abstract

A usual majority rule and a new block method are applied to Ising model on two-dimen-sional random triangle lattice.Either of them has got a good critical exponent. The newblock method has an advantage of easily extending to higher dimensional random lattice.

An improved Monte Carlo renormalization group method is applied to three-state and four-state Potts models on two-dimensional random triangle lattice. Their fixed points and critical exponents are analysed. The critical exponents obtained are consistent with the theoretical analytical values.

Ⅰ. INTRODUCTIONMonte Carlo renormalization group method (MCRG) has become a powerful technical tool for the study of critical behaviour and continuum limit of discrete systems since 1976. The method is therefore widely applied to the study of fixed point and critical exponents in statistical models, and to the study of phase transitions, β function and scaling behaviour for some gauge fields in lattice gauge theories.

A MONTE CARLO RENORMALIZATION GROUP STUDY OF A 2-DIMENSIONAL TRIANGULAR LATTICE

The method developed by D.J.E.Callaway is applied to Ising model on a two-dimen-sional triangular lattice.A fixed point and critical exponent are found. The results are con-sistent with one of the exact theories very well.Obviously this method show superiority tothat obtained by some other approximate methods. The method is also applied to Z_2 gauge theoryon a 2-dimensional triangular lattice,no fixed points are found,in agreement with other me-thods.

The Monte Carlo renormalization group method proposed by Callaway is applied to φ~4 model on two dimensional triangle lattice. The flow diagram, fixed point and critical exponent are determined, There is no fixed point in the range of 0.1λ10~9. The large λ limit, as expected, is consistent with the Ising model.

Monte Carlo renormalization: The triangular Ising model as a test case

Wenan Guo, Henk W. J. Blöte, Zhiming Ren

We test the performance of the Monte Carlo renormalization method in the context of the Ising model on a triangular lattice. We apply a block-spin transformation which allows for an adjustable parameter so that the transformation can be optimized. This optimization purportedly brings the fixed point of the transformation to a location where the corrections to scaling vanish. To this purpose we determine corrections to scaling of the triangular Ising model with nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor interactions by means of transfer-matrix calculations and finite-size scaling. We find that the leading correction to scaling just vanishes for the nearest-neighbor model. However, the fixed point of the commonly used majority-rule block-spin transformation appears to lie well away from the nearest-neighbor critical point. This raises the question whether the majority rule is suitable as a renormalization transformation, because the standard assumptions of real-space renormalization imply that corrections to scaling vanish at the fixed point. We avoid this inconsistency by means of the optimized transformation which shifts the fixed point back to the vicinity of the nearest-neighbor critical Hamiltonian. The results of the optimized transformation in terms of the Ising critical exponents are more accurate than those obtained with the majority rule.
