Abstract

Quantum error correction plays a crucial role in quantum information theory.Schlingemann and Werner presented a new way to construct quantum stabilizer codes by finding certain graphs(or matrices) with specific properties, and they constructed several new non-binary quantum codes, in particular, they gave a new proof on the existence of quantum codes [[5, 1, 3]] for all odd primes. In this paper, using the same method, we prove the existence of MDS quantum codes with the sum n and k being 8 for all primes exceeding three.

Construction of nonbinary quantum cyclic codes by using graph method

Liu ., Tailin, Wen Wen +2 more

Using the graph method proposed by Schlingemann and Werner, this paper introduces a technique to construct nonbinary quantum cyclic codes and provides a specific example. We also construct the quantum codes [[8, 2, 4]]p and [[n, n - 2, 2]]p for all odd primes p by the graph method.

Constructing non-binary asymmetric quantum codes via graphs

Zhi Ma, Leng Riguang, Zhengchao Wei +1 more

The theory of quantum error correcting codes is a primary tool for fighting decoherence and other quantum noise in quantum communication and quantum computation. Recently, the theory of quantum error correcting codes has developed rapidly and been extended to protect quantum information over asymmetric quantum channels, in which phase-shift and qubit-flip errors occur with different probabilities. In this paper, we generalize the construction of symmetric quantum codes via graphs (or matrices) to the asymmetric case, converting the construction of asymmetric quantum codes to finding matrices with some special properties. We also propose some asymmetric quantum Maximal Distance Separable (MDS) codes as examples constructed in this way.

New entanglement-assisted quantum MDS codes derived from cyclic codes

Sujuan Huang, Shixin Zhu, Pan Wang

Entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting codes, which can be seen as a generalization of quantum error-correcting codes, can be constructed from arbitrary classical linear codes by relaxing the self-orthogonality properties and using pre-shared entangled states between the sender and the receiver, and can also improve the performance of quantum error-correcting codes. In this paper, we construct some families of entanglement-assisted quantum maximum-distance-separable codes with parameters $[[\frac{{{q^2} - 1}}{a},\frac{{{q^2} - 1}}{a} - 2d+2 + c,d;c]]_q$, where $q$ is a prime power with the form $q = am \pm \ell$, $a = \frac{{\ell^2} - 1}{3}$ is an odd integer, $\ell \equiv 2\ (\bmod\ 6)$ or $\ell \equiv 4\ (\bmod\ 6)$, and $m$ is a positive integer. Most of these codes are new in the sense that their parameters are not covered by the codes available in the literature.

Scheme for constructing graphs associated with stabilizer quantum codes

Carlo Cafaro, Damian Markham, Peter van Loock

We propose a systematic scheme for the construction of graphs associated with binary stabilizer codes. The scheme is characterized by three main steps: first, the stabilizer code is realized as a codeword-stabilized (CWS) quantum code; second, the canonical form of the CWS code is uncovered; third, the input vertices are attached to the graphs. To check the effectiveness of the scheme, we discuss several graphical constructions of various useful stabilizer codes characterized by single and multi-qubit encoding operators. In particular, the error-correcting capabilities of such quantum codes are verified in graph-theoretic terms as originally advocated by Schlingemann and Werner. Finally, possible generalizations of our scheme for the graphical construction of both (stabilizer and nonadditive) nonbinary and continuous-variable quantum codes are briefly addressed.
