Abstract

We consider tripod artificial atom systems consisting of SQUID’s circuit, and show how to generate purely geometric phase changes of the quantum states involved. The geometric phases are controlled by three laser fields where pulse shapes, relative field strength, and phases can be controlled. Simultaneity, we present a scheme to implement three quantum gates based on these geometric phases: a one-qubit phase gate, a Hadamard gate, and a two-qubit phase gate.

We consider stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) processes in tripod systems and show how to generate purely geometric phase changes of the quantum states involved. The geometric phases are controlled by three laser fields where pulse shapes, relative field strength, and phases can be controlled. We present a robust set of universal gates for quantum computing based on these geometric phases: a one-qubit phase gate, a Hadamard gate, and a two-qubit phase gate.

Quantum Three-Qubit Phase Gate Operation by Using an Artificial Atom in a Three-Mode Cavity

Li Xin Xia, Qianzhao Lei

We propose a scheme for realizing quantum three-qubit phase gate operation, in a three-mode cavity where the large detuned cavity-mode fields interact with the four-level artificial atom of an rf-SQUID in tripod-type configuration. In this scheme, the two lowest levels of the artificial atom represent the two logical states of the target qubit and two cavity-mode states are the control qubits, while the third cavity-mode field serves the gate manipulation. Since only the metastable lower levels are involved in the gate operations, the gate is insensitive to the decay rates of the artificial atom, which makes this scheme advantageous and it is important in view of decoherence.

Unconventional geometric phase gates using two cyclic three-level artificial atoms in a cavity

Li-Xin Xia, Fang-Zhou Wu, Qiongtao Xie +1 more

Using two cyclic three-level artificial atoms, we propose a scheme for realizing two-qubit quantum phase gates via an unconventional geometric phase shift in a cavity. In this scheme, the excited states of the two artificial atoms are adiabatically eliminated, and the logical gates' operation only involves their metastable states. Moreover, under certain conditions, the artificial atoms are disentangled with the cavity mode. Thus the gate is insensitive to both the cavity decay and the spontaneous emission of the artificial atoms.

Geometric manipulation of the quantum states of two-level atoms

Ming Tian, Zeb W. Barber, Joe A. Fischer +1 more

Manipulation of the quantum states of two-level atoms has been investigated using laser-controlled geometric phase change, which has the potential to build robust quantum logic gates for quantum computing. For a qubit based on two electronic transition levels of an atom, two basic quantum operations that can make any universal single qubit gate have been designed employing resonant laser pulses. An operation equivalent to a phase gate has been demonstrated using ${\mathrm{Tm}}^{3+}$ doped in a yttrium aluminum garnet crystal.

Implement of Unconventional Geometric Quantum Phase Gate Via Cavity QED

LI Hong-cai

A scheme is proposed for realizing unconventional geometric quantum phase gate originated from high-dimensional squeezed operators, which can be easily generalized to the physical system of Cavity QED.In the scheme,two-qubit g unconventional geometric phase gate is carried out by threes level atoms in a cavity, strongly drive by a resonant classical field.Under ideal condition, the resonant interaction in our scheme results in a short gating time.

Implementation of Controlled Geometric Phase Gate for Two Trapped Neutral Atoms

Huai‐Zhi Wu, Zhen‐Biao Yang, Shi‐Biao Zheng

We propose a scheme for realizing a controlled geometric phase gate for two neutral atoms. We apply the stimulated Raman adiabatic passage to transfer atoms from their ground states into Rydberg excited states, and use the Rydberg interaction induced energy shifts to generate geometric phase and construct quantum gates.
