Abstract

From the definition of the phase state by Pegg and Barnett, an expression of phase coherent state for bosons is deduced, us statistical property is investigated and distribution probability and quantum fluctuation of the phase are calculated It is showed that appearance probability and quantum fluctuation of the phase in phase coherent state are biggish when the phase angle is bigger.

Statistical Phase Properties of Light Fields of Coherent State

Guo Zhen-ping

Based on the definition of Pegg-Barnett phase state, the phase probability distribution funtions of coherent state are analytically calculated. It is shown that the phase probability distributicn curve is a straight line in vacuum state and that in coherent state is: the average distribution, → the Poisson distribution → the average distribution.

This article, according to the Pegg-Barnett phase theory, infers the phase probability distribution function of the coherent condition light field, calculates the phase to fluctuate, and has carried on the value simulation using MATHEMATICA to the coherent condition light field phase function and the phase fluctuation, has drawn the schematic drawing. The result indicates at the same time the phase function is restricted by the e exponential function and the exponent sign function, from evenly distributes to the Poisson's distribution to the even distribution, until presents the zero distribution; In a phase change cycle, the coherent condition phase distribution curve appears the fluctuation,at the same time the fluctuation is referred the phase and the coherent coefficient influence, along with the n value increase, the curve tends to the Gaussian distribution.

Phase properties of excited coherent states

Ravinder Nath, Satish Kumar Muthu

The phase properties of states generated by excitations on a coherent state have been studied by evaluating the expression for the phase probability distribution, using the recent formalism of Pegg and Barnett in which the existence of a Hermitian optical phase operator has been shown. This distribution has been further used to evaluate the variance of the phase operator and the number - phase uncertainty product.

The completeness relation for the superposition pair coherent state is discussed.Based the phase operator and phase state introduced by Pegg and Barnett we study the phase probability distributions of the superposition pair coherent state and the numerical calculation. It is shown that the probability distributions of the superposition pair coherent state are regulated by the parameters of phase and superposition.

Fluctuation of the Barnett-Pegg phase operator in a coherent state

Robert Lynch

The expectation value and variance of a new phase operator introduced recently by Pegg and Barnett [Europhys. Lett. 6, 483 (1988); Phys. Rev. A 39, 1665 (1989)] and by Barnett and Pegg [J. Mod. Opt. 36, 7 (1989)] is calculated for a coherent state. The values for the variance so obtained are compared with the phase-fluctuation measurements of Gerhardt, B\"uchler, and Liftin [Phys. Lett. 49A, 119 (1974)] and Gerhardt, Welling, and Frolich [Appl. Phys. 2, 91 (1973)]. Agreement is found to be good, provided that account is taken of the details of the experimental values.
