Abstract

The phenomena and essential of electromagnetic induced transparency are introduced, and the phenomenon is simulated using two classic linearly coupled RLC circuits. The conclusion that the small coupling capacitance has the more evident effect is gotten. The experiment helps students to understand quantum coherent phenomenon better.

Classical RLC Circuit Simulates the Quantum Electromagnetic Induced Transparent Phenomenon

Yuchen Guo

We simulate the Λ type quantum electromagnetic induced transparent phenomenon using one classical RLC circuit, and discuss the influences of Rabi frequency and detuning capacity on the system's absorptions. Meanwhile,we analyze the differences and mechanism between the simulating experiment and the real electromagnetic induced phenomenon. Therefore,it is helpful for further understanding the quantum phenomenon.

Classical Analog of Electromagnetically Induced Transparency

Carlos L. Garrido Alzar, Martínez, M A G, Nussenzveig, P

We present a classical analog for Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT). In a system of just two coupled harmonic oscillators subject to a harmonic driving force we can reproduce the phenomenology observed in EIT. We describe a simple experiment performed with two linearly coupled RLC circuits which can be taught in an undergraduate laboratory class.

Experimental Investigation of Electromagnetically Induced Transparency Like Effect in RLC Circuits

RLC circuits may used to simulate the phenomenon of Electromagnetically Induced Transparency(EIT) in atomic vapors. The EIT-like effect is observed in capacitor coupled RLC circuits due to the classical destructive interference, which is studied by examining the frequency dependence of the power transferred from the external generator to the resonant first loop.We investigated the effect of coupling strength and frequency detuning on EIT-like effect in two mesh circuits which used to analog three-level atom in the Λ configuration and in three mesh circuits which used to analog four-level atom in the inverted-Y and N configuration.

Experimental Verification of Circuit Analog of Three- and Four-Level Electromagnetically Induced Transparency

Xi Chen, Xia Min Leng, Jing Xin Li +5 more

Since a two-level resonant atomic system can be simulated by a simple circuit, three- and four-level electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) that occur due to light-atom interaction can find its classical counterpart in circuit analog. As the optical response of an EIT atomic medium (including atomic vapors and semiconductor-quantum-dot dielectrics) can be controlled via tunable quantum interference induced by applied external control fields, in the scheme of circuit analog, such a controllable manipulation is achieved via capacitor coupling, where two loops are coupled by a capacitor that can represent the applied control fields in atomic EIT. Both numerical simulation and experimental demonstration of three- and four-level EIT were performed based on such a scenario of circuit analog. The classical “coherence” relevant to quantum interference among transitions pathways driven by both probe and control fields in EIT atomic systems has been manifested in the present circuit analog of EIT.

Metamaterial analog of quantum interference: From electromagnetically induced transparency to absorption

Yong Sun, Wei Tan, Lanju Liang +4 more

\n With a metamaterial structure, the phenomenology observed in quantum electromagnetically induced transparency is reproduced. Through the parametric comparison between quantum and classical systems, the physical mechanism of this novel phenomenon has been explained directly in our analysis. In addition, we use another metamaterial structure to mimic a tripod four-level atom and reveal the analog of electromagnetically induced absorption. Our theoretical and experimental studies may not only bring an intuitive understanding of quantum interference in atomic system, but also provide useful guidelines for the design of microwave devices based on metamaterials.\n
