Abstract

For a constraint system, the quantum kinetic energy operator T=-~2/(2μ)~2 can not be rewritten in terms of T=-~2/(2μ)∑P~2_i, but takes the form T=1/(2μ)∑P_if_i(x,y,z)P_i, where f_i(x,y,z)(i=x,y,z) are non-trivial functions of Cartesian x,y,z.

A Secondary Operator Ordering Problem for a Charged Rigid Planar Rotator in Uniform Magnetic Field

Xiao Xiao, Yanping, Lai +7 more

When the motion of a particle is constrained, an excess term exists using hermitian form of Cartesian momentum pi (i = 1, 2, 3) in usual kinetic energy (1/2μ)∑p2i, and the correct kinetic energy turns out to be (1/2μ) ∑(1/ fi)pifipi, where the fi are dummy factors in classical mechanics and nontrivial in quantum mechanics. In this paper the explicit form of the dummy functions fi is given for a charged rigid planar rotator in the uniform magnetic field.

The correct quantum kinetic energy operator for sphericalrotator in 3-dimensional Cartesian coordinates

Tiangui Liu

For a rigid spherical rotator, the correct quantum kinetic energy operator in 3-dimensional (Cartesian) coordinates takes the form 12m∑ix_ixyzp_ixyzx_ip_i where p_i(i=1,2,3) are the hemitian (Cartesian) (momentum) operators expressed in the spherical polar coordinates.
