Abstract

The approximate solution and the exact solution of three dimensional harmonic oscillator in potential H′=(λμω_0~2/2)(x~2+y~2+z~2) is derived. The energy level and degeneracy of three dimensional harmonic oscillatorin in potential H′=(λμω_0~2/2)(x~2+y~2+z~2) is discussed.

The analytic solution to the Schrodinger equation with a harmonic oscillator potentialplus δ-potential is presented in the coordinate representation. Its algebraic expression in theenergy representation is also given. The degeneracy of the energy levels is discussed and acomparison between the energy spectra of a harmonic oscillator and a particle in a δ-poten-tial is made.

On the harmonic oscillator inside an infinite potential well

The exact solution to Schrödinger’s equation for a three-dimensional harmonic oscillator confined by two impenetrable walls is presented. The energy levels of this system are obtained as a function of wall separation as well as distance of the center of the oscillator to the walls. The force exerted by the walls on the oscillator is also evaluated, showing a classical behavior.
