Abstract

The nonadiabatic geometric phase(AA phase) generating in the quantum system consisting of a single mode or many mode cavity field with a quantized oscillating mirror has been discussed. The result shows that such a phase only depends on the intensity of the cavity field but not on its photon statistics, which contrasts to these occuring in a Kerr like medium.

Berry phase in a generalized nonlinear two-level system

Jibing Liu, Jiahua Li, Peijun Song +1 more

In this paper, we investigate the behaviour of the geometric phase of a more generalized nonlinear system composed of an effective two-level system interacting with a single-mode quantized cavity field. Both the field nonlinearity and the atom–field coupling nonlinearity are considered. We find that the geometric phase depends on whether the index k is an odd number or an even number in the resonant case. In addition, we also find that the geometric phase may be easily observed when the field nonlinearity is not considered. The fractional statistical phenomenon appears in this system if the strong nonlinear atom–field coupling is considered. We have also investigated the geometric phase of an effective two-level system interacting with a two-mode quantized cavity field.

Geometric phase with photon statistics and squeezed light for the dispersive fiber

Amitabh Joshi, Arun Kumar Pati, Arup Banerjee

The nonadiabatic geometric phase for an arbitrary cyclic evolution of the state vector for a system described by the quantum theory of the propagation of a single-mode off-resonant field through the dispersive fiber is discussed here. The sensitivity of the geometric phase on the initial field statistics has been explicitly shown in the calculations. We also derive the expressions of the geometric phase when the system is prepared initially in a squeezed coherent state.

Nonadiabatic geometric phase induced by Stark shift

Eduardo I. Duzzioni, Celso J. Villas-Bôas, Salomon Sylvain Mizrahi +2 more

We introduce a feasible scheme, considering nowadays available technology, to control and measure nonadiabatic geometrical phases in cavity quantum electrodynamics. Our proposal employs the dispersive interaction of a two-level atom with a quantized cavity field driving by a time dependent linear amplification process. A geometrical phase factor in the state of the system is introduced by such amplification process which depends on the atomic state (due to the Stark shift). We provide a geometrical interpretation of this effect that may be useful for implementation of geometric quantum computation. Finally, we show how to measure this effect in an interferometric experiment and to generate geometrical "Schrodinger cat"-like states.

Berry’s phase in cavity QED: Proposal for observing an effect of field quantization

Angelo C. M. Carollo, Marcelo França Santos, Vlatko Vedral

We propose a feasible experiment to investigate quantum effects in geometric phases, arising when a classical source drives not a single quantum system, but two interacting ones. In particular, we show how to observe a signature of the quantization of the electromagnetic field through a vacuum effect in Berry's phase. To do so, we describe the interaction of an atom and a quantized cavity mode altogether driven by an external quasiclassical field. We also analyze the semiclassical limit recovering the usual Berry's phase results.

Nonadiabatic geometric phase induced by a counterpart of the Stark shift

Eduardo I. Duzzioni, Celso J. Villas-Bôas, Salomon Sylvain Mizrahi +2 more

We analyse the geometric phase due to the Stark shift in a system composed of a bosonic field, driven by time-dependent linear amplification, interacting dispersively with a two-level (fermionic) system. We show that a geometric phase factor in the joint state of the system, which depends on the fermionic state (resulting form the Stark shift), is introduced by the amplification process. A clear geometrical interpretation of this phenomenon is provided. We also show how to measure this effect in an interferometric experiment and to generate geometric "Schrödinger cat"-like states. Finally, considering the currently available technology, we discuss a feasible scheme to control and measure such geometric phases in the context of cavity quantum electrodynamics.

Dynamics of entropy and nonclassical properties of the state of a Λ-type three-level atom interacting with a single-mode cavity field with intensity-dependent coupling in a Kerr medium

Mohammad Javad Faghihi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly

In this paper, we study the interaction between a three-level atom and a quantized single-mode field with 'intensity-dependent coupling' in a 'Kerr medium'. The three-level atom is considered to be in a Λ-type configuration. Under particular initial conditions, which may be prepared for the atom and the field, the dynamical state vector of the entire system will be explicitly obtained, for the arbitrary nonlinearity function f(n) associated with any physical system. Then, after evaluating the variation of the field entropy against time, we will investigate the quantum statistics as well as some of the nonclassical properties of the introduced state. During our calculations we investigate the effects of intensity-dependent coupling, Kerr medium and detuning parameters on the depth and domain of the nonclassicality features of the atom–field state vector. Finally, we compare our obtained results with those of V -type three-level atoms.
