Abstract

This paper investigates a coupled cavity optomechanical system consisting of two Fabry-Perot cavities and the two cavities are coupled via an optical fiber.Every cavity is made of one fixed mirror and a movable mirror, and the movable mirror can be regarded as a mechanical oscillators.Meanwhile, the two cavity modes are driven by classical laser fields. So,the interaction is inevitable between cavities, cavity and moving mirror, cavity and classical field.Firstly,in order to eliminate the two cavity fields,an effective Hamiltonian of the two phonon modes is derived by means of picture transformation, adiabatic eliminating, and rotating wave approximation ignoring the high frequency items, etc.Secondly,if the two mechanical oscillators initially are in coherent states, the coupled mechanical oscillators can be used to transmit state. Finally,in order to verify the analytical result, the fidelity of quantum state is numevically simulated, the result shows that the quantum state can be transferred periodically between the two mechanical oscillators, which is the same as the analytical result.

Coherent resonant coupling between atoms and a mechanical oscillator mediated by cavity-vacuum fluctuations

Bo Wang, Jiaming Hu, Vincenzo Macrí +2 more

We show that an atom can be coupled to a mechanical oscillator via quantum vacuum fluctuations of a cavity field enabling energy transfer processes between them. In a hybrid quantum system consisting of a cavity resonator with a movable mirror and an atom, these processes are dominated by two pair-creation mechanisms: the counterrotating (atom-cavity system) and dynamical Casimir interaction terms (optomechanical system). Because of these two pair-creation mechanisms, the resonant atom-mirror coupling is the result of high-order virtual processes with different transition paths well described in our theoretical framework. We perform a unitary transformation to the atom-mirror system Hamiltonian, exhibiting two kinds of multiple-order transitions of the pair creation. By tuning the frequency of the atom, we show that photon frequency conversion can be realized within a cavity of multiple modes. Furthermore, when involving two atoms coupled to the same mechanical mode, a single vibrating excitation of the mechanical oscillator can be simultaneously absorbed by the two atoms. Considering recent advances in strong and ultrastrong coupling for cavity optomechanics and other systems, we believe our proposals can be implemented using available technology.

Controlling the entanglement of mechanical oscillators in composite optomechanical system

Jun Zhang, Qing-Xia Mu, Wen-Zhao Zhang

A controllable entanglement scheme of two mechanical oscillators is proposed in a composite optomechanical system. In the case of strong driving and high dissipation, the dynamics of the movable mirror of the optomechanical cavity is characterized by an effective frequency in the long-time evolution of the system. Considering the classical nonlinear effects in an optomechanical system, we investigate the relationship between the effective frequency of the movable mirror and the adjustable parameters of the cavity. It shows that the effective frequency of the movable mirror can be adjusted ranging from ω m (the resonance frequency of the coupling oscillator) to − ω m . Under the condition of experimental realization, we can generate and control steady-state entanglement between two oscillators by adjusting the effective frequency of the movable mirror and reducing the effective dissipation by selecting the parameter of the cavity driving laser appropriately. Our scheme provides a promising platform to control the steady-state behavior of solid-state qubits using classical manipulation, which is significant for quantum information processing and fundamental research.

The nonclassical effects in coupled optomechanical array

Wenjun Zhou, Jiong Cheng, Wen-Zhao Zhang +2 more

We investigate a coupled array of N identical cavity optomechanical systems. By adiabatically eliminating the cavity fields, we derive an effective Hamiltonian of the N phonon modes coupled via XX form. We show further that the coupled mechanical oscillators can be used to transmit state and the single mode of the oscillator and the two-mode of neighbor oscillators can exhibit squeezing simultaneously. Under the suitable regime of parameters, the phonon blockade is exhibited.

Atomic quadrature squeezing and quantum state transfer in a hybrid atom–optomechanical cavity with two Duffing mechanical oscillators

Farzaneh Momeni, M. H. Naderi

In this paper, we investigate theoretically the quantum state transfer in a laser-driven hybrid optomechanical cavity with two Duffing-like anharmonic movable end mirrors containing an ensemble of identical two-level trapped atoms. The quantum state transfer from the Bogoliubov modes of the two anharmonic oscillators to the atomic mode results in the atomic quadrature squeezing beyond the standard quantum limit of 3 dB, which can be controlled by both the optomechanical and atom-field coupling strengths. Interestingly, the generated atomic squeezing can be made robust against the noise sources by means of the Duffing anharmonicity. Moreover, the results reveal that the presence of the Duffing anharmonicity provides the possibility of transferring strongly squeezed states between the two mechanical oscillators in a short operating time and with high fidelity.

Quantum state transfer of superposed multi-photon states via phonon-induced dynamic resonance in an optomechanical system

Xuanloc Leu, Xuan-Hoai Thi Nguyen, Jinhyoung Lee

We propose a method to transfer macroscopically superposed states between two optical cavities mediated by a mechanical oscillator, which works in a nonlinear regime of optomechanical interaction. Our approach relies on the phonon-induced dynamic resonance, where the motion of mechanical oscillator dynamically sets on/off the resonance between two cavities. Our method assumes high amplitude limit of oscillator, weak coupling between optical cavities, and adiabatic approximation. We show that, under these conditions, various multi-photon quantum states, especially, Schr{ö}dinger cat states, can be transferred with nearly perfect fidelity in a deterministic process. We show that transfer fidelity of 0.99 can be achieved using the experimental parameters in currently available technology.

Quantum State Transfer between a Mechanical Oscillator and a Distant Moving Atom

Fu Zhang, Yanqing Guo, Guangyao Yang +1 more

We propose a scheme for high fidelity quantum state transfer from a mechanical oscillator to a distant moving atom. In the scheme, two optical cavities connected by an optical fiber are interacted effectively through adiabatically eliminating fiber mode under large detuning limit. The quantum state transfer fidelity can be raised asymptotically to 100% by optimizing the Gaussian pulse G(t), the maximum atom-cavity coupling strength Ωmax, and the atomic velocity v. We also show that the affect of dissipation can be obviously depressed by synchronously increasing Ωmax and v.
