HIGHER ORDER SQUEEZING OF MIXED SUPERPOSITION STATES

Abstract

In this paper, we calculate the k-th moments of △a1 and △a2 in mixed superposition states, discuss the higher-order squeezing in these states with Bloch vector. We also describe and calculate squeeze zones, and squeeze conditions in higher-order squeezing, discuss some optimum squeeze conditions. We conclude that two quadrature components a1 and a1 can be squeezed to higher-order at the same time under some conditions. Finally, we try to discuss the nature of squeeze in superposition states.

Higher-order squeezing properties and correlation functions for squeezed number states

Paulina Marian

Higher-order squeezing conditions for squeezed number states are derived using a normal-ordering technique for calculating the moments of the field. Intrinsic higher-order squeezing is also investigated. It is found that the normally ordered moments of the quadrature operators are oscillating functions of the squeeze parameter. Also calculated is the exact nth-order correlation function for an arbitrary squeezed number state. Finally, its behavior for large and weak squeezing is analyzed.

Squeezed quantum multiplets: properties and phase space representation

Juan Pablo Paz, Corina Révora, Christian Tomás Schmiegelow

We define and study the properties of ``squeezed quantum multiplets''. Ordinary multiplets are sets of $D$-orthonormal quantum states formed by superpositions of states squeezed along $D$ equally spaced directions in quadrature space. More generally, we also discuss superpositions of ``higher-order squeezed states'', including tri-squeezed and quad-squeezed states. All these states involve superpositions of multiples of $p$ photons. We compare states in ordinary ($p=2$) multiplets and higher-order ones ($p>2$) in the most relevant cases, showing that ordinary squeezed multiplets and higher-order ones share some important similarities, as well as some differences. Finally, we present analytical expressions for phase-space distributions (Wigner and characteristic functions) representing ordinary squeezed multiplets. We use this to show that some squeezed multiplets are highly sensitive to perturbations in all phase-space directions, making them interesting for metrological applications.

Higher-order amplitude squeezing

Evgeny V Shchukin, W. Vogel

A brief review of nonclassicality conditions in terms of moments of the creation and annihilation operators is given. By introducing k -th power amplitude squeezing, the notions of ordinary quadrature squeezing and amplitude-squared squeezing are generalized. Minimum uncertainty states are considered as a special class of k -th power amplitude squeezed states. These states can be characterized by a special, rather simple nonclassicality condition.

Simultaneous fourth-order squeezing of both quadrature components

Robert Lynch

It is shown that a particular combination of so-called even coherent state dubbed the orthogonal-even coherent state, while exhibiting no ``ordinary'' or second-order squeezing, can furnish near-optimal simultaneous-quadrature fourth-order squeezing [where the latter term is defined in the sense of Hong and Mandel, Phys. Rev. Lett. 54, 323 (1985)]. The Wigner function of the particular quantum-mechanical superposition of states is calculated and various plots compared to the Wigner function of a simple statistical mixture of the same states. Rather uninteresting behavior is found in the latter case, which illustrates that the higher-order squeezing effect is due to nonclassical, quantum-mechanical ``interference in phase space.''

ENTROPIC SQUEEZING PROPERTIES OF EVEN AND ODD COHERENT STATES

Yongping Li, Yun‐Jie Xia

The position and momentum entropic squeezing of even and odd coherent states are studied. The relations between the two entropic squeezings and the two quadrature components squeezing are also discussed. The results show that even and odd coherent state exhibits both position and momentum entropic squeezing, which is different from the standard deviations squeezing.

Equal-order N-th Power Y-squeezing of the Superposition Light Field Composed By Two Odd Coherent States

According to the linear superposition principle in quantum mechanics, the superposition light field composed by multimode odd coherent state and multimode complex conjugation imaginary odd coherent state Utilized the multimode squeezed state theory.the properties of equal-power N-th power Y-squeezing of the state is studide, and it is found that:1)when squeezing number N=4P (P=1,2,3,...),if the initial phase of each vertical order (?),the phase difference θ1-θ2 and other parameters take different fixed value, the first quadrature component of the state always presents different degree and periodic changing equal-order N-th power Y-squeezing;2)when squeezing number N=4P'-2 (P'=1,2,3,...) if the initial phase of each vertical order (?)j,the phase defference θ1-θ2 and other parameters take different fixed value, the second quadrature component of the state always presents different degree and perindic changing equal-power N-th power Y-squeezing.
