Abstract

With the symetries of Hamitonian in Ising model of cubic lattice under periodic boundary conditions and without external field, the matrices of the proplems are block diagonalised. The problem of 2×2×n cubic lattice is rigorously solved. Free energy of two other simple cases are computed, an approximate solution is proposed based on numerical results.

Exact Solution for Three-Dimensional Ising Model

Degang Zhang

The three-dimensional Ising model in a zero external field is exactly solved by operator algebras, similar to the Onsager’s approach in two dimensions. The partition function of the simple cubic crystal imposed by the periodic boundary condition along two directions and the screw boundary condition along the third direction is calculated rigorously. In the thermodynamic limit an integral replaces a sum in the formula of the partition function. The critical temperatures, at which order–disorder transitions in the infinite crystal occur along three axis directions, are determined. The analytical expressions for the internal energy and the specific heat are also presented.

A Solution of 3d-Ising Model with Boundary

Hideyuki Narumi, Haruo Hosoya

A solution of 3d-Ising Model with boundary conditions was studied. Because of the lack of 3d-Pfaffian we used the symmetry of a cubic lattice to obtain the final results. We obtained 23% upper value of the transition point compared with the one which was given by Monte Carlo Method for a cubic lattice.

N-vicinities method for 3D Ising Model

Boris Kryzhanovsky, Leonid B. Litinskii

The n-vicinities method for approximate calculations of the partition function of a spin system was proposed previously. The equation of state was obtained in the most general form. In the present publication these results are adapted to the Ising model on the D-dimensional cubic lattice. The state equation is solved for an arbitrary dimension D and the behavior of the free energy is analyzed. For large values of D (D > 2) the obtained results are in good agreement with the ones obtained by means of computer simulations. For small values of D (D < 3), there are noticeable discrepancies with the exact results.

Low-Temperature Asymptotics of Free Energy for 3D Ising Model in an External Magnetic Field

Martin S. Kochman'ski

The paper presents new method for calculating the low-temperature asymptotics of free energy of the 3D Ising model in external magnetic field (H = 0). The results obtained are valid in the wide range of temperature and magnetic field values fulfilling the condition: [1 − tanh(h/2)] ∼ ε, for ε ≪ 1, where h = βH, β- the inverse temperature and H- external magnetic field. For this purpose the method of transfer-matrix, and generalized Jordan-Wigner transformations, in the form introduced by the author in [1], are applied. PACS number(s): 05.50. +q Typeset using REVTEX 1 I. FORMULATION OF THE PROBLEM As is well known, till now an exact solution for the 2D Ising model in external magnetic field (H = 0) was not found. In the case of the 3D Ising model there does not exist an exact solution forvanishing magnetic field (H = 0), without even mentioning the case with magnetic field. An exact solution to the partition function of the finite-size Ising Model

Rong Wei

There is no an exact solution to three-dimensional (3D) finite-size Ising model (referred to as the Ising model hereafter for simplicity) and even two-dimensional (2D) Ising model with non-zero external field to our knowledge. Here by using an elementary but rigorous method, we obtain an exact solution to the partition function of the Ising model with $N$ lattice sites. It is a sum of $2^N$ exponential functions and holds for $D$-dimensional ($D=1,2,3,...$) Ising model with or without the external field. This solution provides a new insight into the problem of the Ising model and the related difficulties, and new understanding of the classic exact solutions for one-dimensional (1D) (Kramers and Wannier, 1941) or 2D Ising model (Onsager, 1944). With this solution, the specific heat and magnetisation of a simple 3D Ising model are calculated, which are consistent with the results from experiments and/or numerical simulations. Furthermore, the solution here and the related approaches, can also be available to other models like the percolation and/or the Potts model.

Three-Dimensional Ising Model and Transfer Matrices

Lou, S. L., Sheng‐Jhih Wu

The use of a transfer matrix method to solve the 3D Ising model is straightforwardly generalized from the 2D case. We follow B.Kaufman's approach. No approximation is made, however the largest eigenvalue cannot be identified. This problem comes from the fact that we follow the choice of directions of 2-dimensional rotations in the direct product space of the 2D Ising model such that all eigenvalue equations reduce miraculously to only one equation. Other choices of directions of 2-dimensional rotations for finding the largest eigenvalue may lose this fascinating feature. Comparing the series expansion of internal energy per site at the high temperature limit with the series obtained from the computer graphic method, we find these two series have very similar structures. A possible correct via a factor Φ(x) is suggested to fit the result of the graphic method.
