Abstract

The entanglement dynamics of a two-level atom with center-of-mass motion in a single-mode quantized field is investigated. The behavior of the entropy changes of the subsystems,as well as the concurrence of the coupled atom-field system is explored. These results show that when the atom is initially prepared in ground state anti-correlation behavior occurs, but a positively correlated behavior appears gradually as the increasing of the probability of the atom initially in excited state. Also, the amplitude of the concurrence increases with the increasing of the probability of the atom initially in excited state. In addition, with increasing of the atomic center-of-mass motion, both the amplitudes of the partial entropy changes and the concurrence are reduced.

Entropy exchange and entanglement in the multi-photon J-C model of a moving atom

Yao-Hua Hu

Considering a moving two-level atom interacting with a single-mode thermal field through multi-photon process, in this paper we study the entropy exchange between the atom and the field by using quantum partial entropy and entanglement measured by using Concurrence, and investigate the effects of the initial atomic state, the atomic motion, the mean photon number and the transition photon number on entropy and entanglement. The results show that the entropy exchange and the entanglement exhibit the periodic evolution due to atomic motion, and entropy exchange occurs. The entanglement between the atom and the field is strengthened as the transition photon number increases. When the partial entropy exchange between atom and field is zero, the entanglement is also zero.

How the mean photon number, the probability of excited state and intrinsic decoherence coefficient influence the time evolution of entanglement is unknown, when a single-mode quantized optic field and a two-level atom coupling system is governed by Milburn equation. The Jaynes-Cummings model is considered.A lower bound of concurrence is proposed to calculate the entanglement.Simulation results indicate that the entanglement of system increases following the increasing of intrinsic decoherence coefficient or the decreasing of the mean photon number.Besides that, the entanglement of the system decreases, while the probability of the exited state increases from 0 to 0.1,and increases, while the probability of the exited state increases from 0.1 to 1.

Entanglement dynamics of a moving multi-photon Jaynes—Cummings model in mixed states

Lei Tan, Yuqing Zhang, Zhong-Hua Zhu

Using the algebraic dynamical method, the entanglement dynamics of an atom-field bipartite system in a mixed state is investigated. The atomic center-of-mass motion and the field-mode structure are also included in this system. We find that the values of the detuning and the average photon number are larger, the amplitude of the entanglement is smaller, but its period does not increase accordingly. Moreover, with the increase of the field-mode structure parameter and the transition photon number, the amplitude of the entanglement varies slightly while the oscillation becomes more and more fast. Interestingly, a damping evolution of the entanglement appears when both the detuning and the atomic motion are considered simultaneously.

Moving atom-field interaction: Quantum motional decoherence and relaxation

Sanjiv Shresta, B. L. Hu

The reduced dynamics of an atomic qubit coupled both to its own quantized center of mass motion through the spatial mode functions of the electromagnetic field, as well as the vacuum modes, is calculated in the influence functional formalism. The formalism chosen can describe the entangled non-Markovian evolution of the system with a full account of the coherent back-action of the environment on the qubit. We find a slight increase in the decoherence due to the quantized center of mass motion and give a condition on the mass and qubit resonant frequency for which the effect is important. In optically resonant alkali-metal atom systems, we find the effect to be negligibly small. The framework presented here can nevertheless be used for general considerations of the coherent evolution of qubits in moving atoms in an electromagnetic field.

Preparation and control of entangled states in the two-mode coherent fields interacting with a moving atom via two-photon process

Xiaojuan Liu, Bingju Zhou, Liu Ming-Wei +1 more

We investigate the preparation and the control of entangled states in a system with the two-mode coherent fields interacting with a moving two-level atom via the two-photon transition. We discuss entanglement properties between the two-mode coherent fields and a moving two-level atom by using the quantum reduced entropy, and those between the two-mode coherent fields by using the quantum relative entropy. In addition, we examine the influences of the atomic motion and field-mode structure parameter p on the quantum entanglement of the system. Our results show that the period and the duration of the prepared maximal atom-field entangled states and the frequency of maximal two-mode field entangled states can be controlled, and that a sustained entangled state of the two-mode field, which is independent of atomic motion and the evolution time, can be obtained, by choosing appropriately the parameters of atomic motion, field-mode structure, initial state and interaction time of the system.

Quantum Entanglement and Geometric Phase of Two Moving Two-Level Atoms

S. Abdel‐Khalek

An important kind of interaction between two moving two-level atoms and a field mode, where the coupling parameter is taken to be time-dependent, is presented in this paper. Nonlocal correlations between the atoms and the field have been investigated by means of concurrence and von Neumann entropy in terms of the involved parameters of the system. The results show that the atomic motion plays an essential role in the evolution of system dynamics, its nonlocal correlations and geometric phase. Moreover, an interesting correlation between the entanglement and the geometric phase during the evolution was observed. The presented system can be very useful for generating and maintaining high amount of entanglement by means of controlling the parameters of atomic motion.
