The Principles, Algorithms and State-of-Art Applications of Quantum Computing

Hongyu Duan

Abstract Contemporarily, quantum computing has become a popular topic, which is a new approach that is different from classic computing. To be specific, it can deal with information by using mathematical modeling that used to represent quantum mechanics, including superposition, interference, and entanglement. In quantum Computing, information is storage in ‘qubit’, whereas classic computer use bit to store information. This article aims to introduce the principles and some algorithms of quantum computing, and then discuss some up-to-date important development. There are two important algorithms are mentioned in this article, Grover’s algorithms and Shor’s algorithms. According to the analysis, Grover’s algorithms is potentially faster than classic algorithms. However, it requires millions of qubits to make it. Besides, Shor’s algorithms have challenged classic encryption (RSA encryption). Two quantum computer Google Sycamore and Jiuzhang are also mentioned here. The interesting thing is, for some specific question, Jiuzhang performed better than classic computers. Finally, it is found out that the quantum computing is generally slower that classic computer now, due to the restriction of qubit numbers. However, quantum computing still has an advantage in some specific question. These results shed light on guiding further exploration of quantum computer designing.

Evolution of Quantum Computing Based on Grover's Search Algorithm

Prakhar Shrivastava, Kapil Kumar Soni, Akhtar Rasool

Quantum computing introduces an efficient way for unfolding complex problems on computing systems. It uses concept of superposition and entanglement, & hence supports intrinsic parallelism for obtaining the speedup in context of time over classical computing. Quantum algorithms can be efficiently implemented over quantum computing system. Most popular quantum algorithms like Grover's and Shor's provide a great foundation to specifically design the algorithms. These algorithms work on improving the lower runtime bounds of classical algorithms. Grover's algorithm exhibits a quadratic polynomial speedup while searching an element among `N' elements unstructured database. The algorithmic strategy can be applied over various computer science related applications and some important are being considered in this article i.e. pattern matching, data mining and machine learning. This article explores quantum fundamentals; history based evolution followed by Grover's search algorithm in detail with cascading advantages, limitations & applications and also finally concludes with the significance of quantum computing & quantum algorithmic domains.

A Comparative Review of Quantum Computing: From Foundational Algorithms to Strategic Global Dominance and Real World Applications.

Palla Sravani, K. Satyanarayana

A paradigm shift in computation is being brought about by quantum computing, which uses the concepts of quantum mechanics to tackle problems that even the most powerful conventional supercomputers cannot solve. This review provides an in-depth overview of the field, covering everything from basic concepts to the cutting edge. The three fundamental building blocks of quantum processing—the qubit, superposition, and entanglement—are first described. These ideas enable quantum computers to concurrently explore large computational domains. After that, the paper examines the various physical implementations, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of the top hardware platforms, such as neutral atoms, trapped ions, photonic systems, and superconducting circuits, in terms of coherence and scalability. Shor's method for integer factorization and Grover's algorithm for unstructured search are two examples of groundbreaking quantum algorithms that are highlighted for their potential to achieve exponential and quadratic speedups over their classical counterparts. We also examine how programming languages that bridge the gap between abstract algorithms and physical hardware are being developed, as well as the new quantum software stack. The paper also explores how quantum computing can revolutionize a number of fields, such as machine learning, materials research, medication development, and cryptography. subsequently, we discuss two of the biggest challenges impeding the development of large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computers: the requirement for robust quantum error correction and decoherence. In the end, a view of the current period of Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) and the path towards quantum advantage is presented. Researchers, students, and professionals looking for a comprehensive grasp of this quickly developing and revolutionary topic are expected to find this review to be an invaluable asset.
