High-fidelity entanglement swapping

Matthew Daniell, Jian-Wei Pan, Gregor Weihs +1 more

Summary form only given. Entanglement is the resource that makes quantum communication and quantum computation work. The most basic quantum communication protocols are quantum cryptography, quantum teleportation and entanglement swapping. In quantum teleportation one of two parties wants to send the other one a quantum state using some independent carrier. Entanglement swapping in its simplest form is the use of quantum teleportation to transmit a quantum state that is already entangled with some other state. Thereby the entanglement that existed between the original particle and its partner is transferred to the output particle. Both teleportation and entanglement swapping have successfully been demonstrated. However, in none of the experiments the quality of teleportation was high enough to produce output correlations that could have violated a Bell-type inequality. In this work we will show that qubit teleportation using polarization-entangled photon pairs can produce the desired correlations.

An Introduction to Quantum Teleportation

Adam Miranowicz, Kiyoshi Tamaki

Recent experiments confirm that quantum teleportation is possible at least for states of photons and nuclear spins. The quantum teleportation is not only a curious effect but a fundamental protocol of quantum communication and quantum computing. The principles of the quantum teleportation and the entanglement swapping are explained, and physical realizations of teleportation of optical and atomic states are discussed.

Entanglement Swapping Schemes on Intraparticle Entangled States

Jiang Mei Tang

Entanglement is one of the most striking features in quantum systems. Today, quantum entanglement plays a vital role in quantum technology, the non-classical correlation of quantum entanglement is an important resource for quantum communication and quantum computing. Entanglement can be divided into two categories: between multi-particle systems and between various degrees of freedom in a single-particle system (intraparticle entangled states). This work first analogized the distinctions and connections between two kinds of entangled states. Then it designed three types of entanglement-swapping methods based on Bell state joint measurement, cross-Kerr medium, and linear optical elements for intraparticle entangled states by analogizing the entanglement swapping between multiple particles. Intraparticle entanglement swapping can be applied in super quantum dense encoding, quantum information transmission, and quantum teleportation. This work is beneficial for promoting the development of quantum information technologies.

With the advent of quantum technology, the exploration of quantum teleportation has become increasingly important, and it has provided a glimpse of the potential of quantum information science. The current research delves into the background of quantum teleportation, emphasizing its key role in advancing quantum communication and computation. Implications of this research are that it has the potential to revolutionize data transmission and processing, providing a secure and efficient means of exchanging quantum information. This paper is structured to provide a comprehensive study of quantum teleportation, starting with a literature review that lays the foundation for our work. Afterward, the details of our research are presented, including the theoretical framework and the proposed methodology for realizing the quantum teleportation protocol. We provide a careful overview of the technical details, demonstrating the complexity of quantum state preparation, entanglement distribution, and Bell state measurements. Our empirical section demonstrates the practical application of these protocols, providing empirical evidence of successful teleportation of quantum states. The theoretical predictions are confirmed by the experimental results, which validate the feasibility and reliability of our approach. Conclusions drawn from the experiments emphasize the robustness of quantum teleportation as a viable technology for future quantum networks.
