Abstract

By using the time-dependent multilevel approach in this paper,we have studied population transfer in Rydberg potassium atom between its two Stark states of 21s and 19f under ultra-Gaussian laser pulses. The result shows that the population transfer of two Stark states is about with initial amplitude E0,pulses shape parameterandm and pulse half width tr.Under the ultra-Gaussian laser pulses of m=3 and m=4,when laser pulses initial amplitude E0 and pulse half width tr is becoming to value, the population can be efficiently transferred from 21s to 19f and trapped there at the same time.

Population transfer via adiabatic passage in the Rydberg potassium atom

Using the time-dependent multilevel approach, we have calculated the coherent population transfer between the quantum states of potassium atom by a single frequency-chirped laser pulse. The result shows that a pair of sequential 'broadband' frequency-chirped laser pulses can efficiently transfer population from the initial state of the ladder system to the target state. It is also found that the population can be efficiently transferred to a target state and trapped there by using an 'intuitive' or a 'counterintuitive' frequency sweep laser pulse in the case of 'narrowband' frequency-chirped laser pulse. Our research shows that the complete population transfer is related to the pulse duration, chirp rate, and amplitude of the laser pulse.

Coherent population transfer in Rydberg potassium atom via stimulated Raman adiabatic passage

By using the time-dependent multilevel approach, the coherent population transfer among the quantum states of potassium atom driven by partially overlapped pulse is studied. The result shows that the complete population transfer is related to both the pulse duration and the overlap and takes place when the pulse duration and overlap each reach an adequate value and at the same time population trapping is also formed.

Excitation of Potassium Atoms by Super-gauss Frequency-Chirped Laser Pluses

The characteristic of population transfer of potassium atom by frequency-chirped super-gauss laser pulses is studied by using time-dependent multilevel approach(TDML).With the calculation of the population transfer of Rydberg potassium atoms with different super gauss index and half pulse width, the population is excited to the target states eventually.By studying the system's dynamic Rabi frequency,it has been found out that trapped population doesn't consist in the magnitude of the Rabi frequency, but in the change of the sign of Rabi frequency in appropriate time.

Population coherent control of Rydberg potassium atom via adiabatic passage

Lijuan Jiang, Xianzhou Zhang, Guang-Rui Jia +2 more

The time-dependent multilevel approach (TDMA) and B-spline expansion technique are used to study the coherent population transfer between the quantum states of a potassium atom by a single frequency-chirped microwave pulse. The Rydberg potassium atom energy levels of n = 6–15, l = 0–5 states in zero field are calculated and the results are in good agreement with other theoretical values. The time evolutions of the population transfer of the six states from n = 70 to n = 75 in different microwave fields are obtained. The results show that the coherent control of the population transfer from the lower states to the higher ones can be accomplished by optimizing the microwave pulse parameters.
