Abstract

In this Paper, we investigate a nonlinear system composed of an effective two-level atom or ion interacting with two quantized cavity fields. We propose a fairly universal intensity-dependent Raman model to describe the atomic or ionic transitions involving 2k photons.Using the standard and unified method we have put forward, we obtain the analytical expressions of the model′s energy eigenvalues and eigenvectors, evolution operator, photon number operators for the two quantized modes,as well as the atomic inversion operator.

Effective Raman Theory for a Three-Level Atom in the V-Configuration

Yang XiaoXue, Ying Wu

It is shown that the system of a three-level atom coupled with two modes of quantized cavity fields in the V-configuration with arbitrary detunings can be exactly reduced to a two-level system with a nonsingular effective coupling which depends nonlinearly on the intensity of the two cavity fields. By performing a unitary transformation, we obtain an exact transformed Hamiltonian in which one of the three levels is decoupled for all values of the detunings including the zero-detuning. We also present the analytical expressions of energy eigenvdues and eigenvectors, evolution operator, time-varying atomic inversion operator and photon number operators of the two modes for the effective two-level model.

Solution to Nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings Models with Nonlinearities of both Two-Mode Field and Atom-Field Interaction

Yu Wan‐Lun

We use the Lewis-Riesenfeld invariant and superoperator methods to solve the system of the interaction of a two-level atom with two modes of a quantized field via multiphoton process, including any form of both intensity-dependent interaction and nonlinearity of the two-mode radiation field. The corresponding general atom-field wave function and time evolution operator as well as the time-evolving expressions for both the atomic inversion and the photon numbers of two modes field are evaluated.

Dynamics of a Raman coupled model interacting with two quantized cavity fields

Christopher C. Gerry, Joseph H. Eberly

We describe the dynamics of an exactly solvable Raman coupled model interacting with two modes of a quantized cavity electromagnetic field. The model consists of a three-level atom in the \ensuremath{\Lambda} configuration whose excited state is considered to be far off resonance and is adiabatically eliminated. The effective Hamiltonian for this system contains products of the transition operators between the two ground-state levels and a field annihilation operator from one mode and a creation operator from the other. This Hamiltonian provides an example of a zero-photon process. We study the atomic inversion and investigate the production of nonclassical effects such as antibunched light, violations of the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality, and squeezing.

Dynamics for a two-atom two-mode intensity-dependent Raman coupled model

Sudha Singh, Karuna Gilhare

We study the quantum dynamics of a two-atom Raman coupled model interacting with a quantized bimodal field with intensity-dependent coupling terms in a lossless cavity. The unitary transformation method used to solve the time-dependent problem also gives the eigensolutions of the interaction Hamiltonian. We study the atomic-population dynamics and dynamics of the photon statistics in the two cavity modes, and present evidence of cooperative effects in the production of antibunching and anticorrelations between the modes. We also investigate the effect of detuning on the evolution of second-order correlation functions and observe that the oscillations become more rapid for large detuning.

Unified and standardized solving formulas for eigenvalues, eigenvectors, evolution operators, time-varying atomic inversion and photon numbers are given to single-mode Jaynes-Cummings models with any forms of intensity-dependent atom-field coupling and the nonlinearity of the quantized photonic field itself such as the Kerr effect.
