Abstract

A novel key retrieval algorithm for phase-coding based on double-key segmented composite filtering(SCF) is proposed.During the recovering,at first the segmented phase mask(SPM) of SCF coding system was obtained by the known-plaintext attack. Then, according to the content of the mask, the affiliations of the phase mask were analyzed by Monte Carlo method. On that basis, the intensity distribution of the key, which needs to be retrieved, could be confirmed depending on the regulation of SPM generation.During this process, the concept of intensity pool(IP) was proposed to solve the problem of intensity-amendment.At last, the phase of the key was retrieved by the idea of phase retrieval, and then the retrieved key could be obtained after several iterations. After the experiment,it can be concluded that the retrieved key can decrypt the cipher text successfully. And the quality of decrypted image is very good.

A Recovery Method of Double Random Phase Encoding System With a Parallel Phase Retrieval

Zhengjun Liu, Cheng Shen, Jiubin Tan +1 more

A novel method composed of phase retrieval is proposed to precisely recover the phase distribution in the double random phase encoding system. The model of a point light source is employed to illuminate the system, in the output side of which several diffracted intensity patterns are recorded in an orderly way. The phase at the output plane of the system is calculated by a parallel iterative phase retrieval algorithm with the recorded images. With the help of the reconstructed phase, the two phase masks can be determined by inverse Fourier transform. As a kind of chosen-plaintext attack, the secret image with high quality can be recovered with the proposed method.

Optical image encryption using password key based on phase retrieval algorithm

Tieyu Zhao, Qiwen Ran, Lin Yuan +2 more

A novel optical image encryption system is proposed using password key based on phase retrieval algorithm (PRA). In the encryption process, a shared image is taken as a symmetric key and the plaintext is encoded into the phase-only mask based on the iterative PRA. The linear relationship between the plaintext and ciphertext is broken using the password key, which can resist the known plaintext attack. The symmetric key and the retrieved phase are imported into the input plane and Fourier plane of 4f system during the decryption, respectively, so as to obtain the plaintext on the CCD. Finally, we analyse the key space of the password key, and the results show that the proposed scheme can resist a brute force attack due to the flexibility of the password key.

Optical multiple-image authentication scheme based on the phase retrieval algorithm in gyrator domain

Liansheng Sui, Xiao Zhang, Ailing Tian

Abstract A novel optical multiple-image authentication scheme based on the phase retrieval algorithm is presented in gyrator domain. According to a plain image, only one phase-only mask is obtained as the encrypted result by using the proposed phase retrieval algorithm, which has a fast convergence rate and good performance on mean square error. Afterwards, the sparsely encrypted distribution is extracted from the phase-only mask by selecting a certain percentage of pixels randomly. Different from other multiple-image authentication system based on space multiplexing, all sparsely encrypted distributions of plain images are finally integrated into the ciphertext by making use of the inter-modulation operation of phase masks, where the decryption process can be performed efficiently without any cross-talk noise and the encrypted capacity is nearly unlimited. Only when the secret keys are correct, the content of the plain images can be authenticated, in which the authentication process can be implemented optically by using the architecture of double random phase encoding. Simulation results are given to demonstrate the feasibility and robustness of the proposed scheme.

Iterative phase retrieval algorithms Part II: Attacking optical encryption systems

Changliang Guo, Shi Liu, John T. Sheridan

The modified iterative phase retrieval algorithms developed in Part I [Guo et al., Appl. Opt.54, 4698 (2015)] are applied to perform known plaintext and ciphertext attacks on amplitude encoding and phase encoding Fourier-transform-based double random phase encryption (DRPE) systems. It is shown that the new algorithms can retrieve the two random phase keys (RPKs) perfectly. The performances of the algorithms are tested by using the retrieved RPKs to decrypt a set of different ciphertexts encrypted using the same RPKs. Significantly, it is also shown that the DRPE system is, under certain conditions, vulnerable to ciphertext-only attack, i.e., in some cases an attacker can decrypt DRPE data successfully when only the ciphertext is intercepted.

Cryptanalysis of optical security systems with significant output images

Guohai Situ, Unnikrishnan Gopinathan, David S. Monaghan +1 more

The security of the encryption and verification techniques with significant output images is examined by a known-plaintext attack. We introduce an iterative phase-retrieval algorithm based on multiple intensity measurements to heuristically estimate the phase key in the Fourier domain by several plaintext-cyphertext pairs. We obtain correlation output images with very low error by correlating the estimated key with corresponding random phase masks. Our studies show that the convergence behavior of this algorithm sensitively depends on the starting point. We also demonstrate that this algorithm can be used to attack the double random phase encoding technique.

Double images encryption method with resistance against the specific attack based on an asymmetric algorithm

Xiaogang Wang, Daomu Zhao

A double-image encryption technique that based on an asymmetric algorithm is proposed. In this method, the encryption process is different from the decryption and the encrypting keys are also different from the decrypting keys. In the nonlinear encryption process, the images are encoded into an amplitude cyphertext, and two phase-only masks (POMs) generated based on phase truncation are kept as keys for decryption. By using the classical double random phase encoding (DRPE) system, the primary images can be collected by an intensity detector that located at the output plane. Three random POMs that applied in the asymmetric encryption can be safely applied as public keys. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the validity and security of the proposed protocol.
