Abstract

We consider that an ultracold two-level atom passes through multi spatially separated single-mode cavity fields and investigate the influence of the center-of-mass motion of the atom, the length of the cavity and the separation between two cavities on the transmission and photon emission probabilities of the atom. We find that both the transmission and photon emission probabilities as functions of the cavity length have multi-resonance peaks when the separation between two cavities is equal to an integer multiple of half the de Broglie wavelength of the atomic center-of-mass motion. The present work shows that the wave function of the atomic center-of-mass motion may be modulated in a macroscopic level by arranging the cavities.

Photon emission of a two-level atom passing through double single-mode cavity fields

Sun Yu-hang, Xiao-Qiang Xi, 西安邮电学院应用数理系,西安 710121

A two-level atom passing through double spatially separated single-mode cavity fields is studied. We investigate the effecting factors of photon emission probabilities of the atom, which include the kinetic energy of the atom, the length of the cavity and the separation between the two cavities. The results show that in the case of ultra-cold atom, when the kinetic energy of the atom is small (k/k0k/k0>1), the length of the cavity has great effect on the photon emission probabilities. The present work shows that the photon emission probabilities may be modulated by controlling the center-of-mass motion of the atom.

An ultracold atom passing through three cavity fields

Sun Yu-hang

We consider the situation that an ultracold two-level atom passes through three spatially separated single-model cavity fields, among which the middle cavity originally contains photons, and investigate how the photon emission probabilities is influenced by the length of the cavity, the separation between two cavities and photons in the cavity on photon emission probabilities of the atom.We find that photon emission probabilities do not change periodically as a function of the cavity length as usual when the middle cavity originally contains photons. Moreover, the principal of photon emission has been changed because of photons in cavity, which transformes from spontaneous radiation to the coexistence of spontaneous radiation and stimulated radiation.

Entanglement between Double Single-mode Cavity Fields

Wei Jin

An two-level atom is considered passes through double spatially separated single-mode cavity fields and the influence of the center-of-mass motion of the atom is investigated, the length of the cavity and the separation between two cavities on entanglement between the cavity fields because of interaction between the atom and the cavity fields. It is found that in the case of ultra-cold atom, when k / k0 1,the probility that the atom passes through double cavity fields is small, and the entanglement is generated is small too.And when k / k0 1,the result is contraty.

Ultracold atoms interacting with a sinusoidal mode of a high-Q cavity

Retamal, J C, E. Solano, Nicim Zagury

We consider the interaction of two level ultracold atoms resonant with a sinusoidal mode of the electromagnetic field in a high Q cavity. We found that well resolved resonances appear in the transmission coefficients even for actual interaction and cavity parameters. The probability of emission of one photon and the probability of transmission of an atom, when a number of coherent states is initially present in the cavity, are discussed. The interplay between the increasing width of the resonances and multi-peak steady-state photon-statistics is also studied. Furthermore, we compare our results with those of a constant field mode.

EFFECTS OF COUPLING BETWEEN CENTER OF MASS MOTION OF AN ATOM AND A CAVITY MODE: PHOTON STATISTICS AND WAVE-PARTICLE CORRELATIONS

Mambwe Mumba

by Mambwe Mumba We examine a system comprised of a single two-level atom inside a driven optical cavity. We allow for cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission out the side of the cavity. There is a spatial dependent coupling between the atom and the cavity mode, which we take into account, using explicit trapping potentials for the atom.Previous work has revolved around a harmonic oscillator potential, we also find here a solution for a realistic optical lattice potential when the lattice wavelength is half the driving laser wavelength.Atomic and cavity detunings are included, as well as effective Franck-Condon factors.Analytic results are obtained for various intensity-intensity and field-intensity correlation functions, using quantum trajectory theory in the weak driving field limit.Nonclassical effects are obtained, and we investigate the effect of a nonstationary atom on these effects. These result from violation of inequalities that must be satisfied if there is an underlying classical stochastic field; violations imply that there is no well defined electric field at all times, with some underlying positive definite probability distribution. The center of mass wave function is specified either by a list of probability amplitudes, or these amplitudes are calculated from an explicit wave function(typically a Gaussian). The correlation functions are quite sensitive to the center of mass wave function, and perhaps correlation functions can be used as probes of atomic motion. We also examine a new inequality between intensity-intensity and field intensity correlation functions, that is violated here.

Quantum theory of the micromaser with ultracold three-level atoms interacting with a bimodal cavity field: spatial variation along the cavity axis

Mahmoud Abdel‐Aty, A.‐S. F. Obada

The analytical form of the emission probability produced by the interaction of an ultracold three-level atom with an electromagnetic bimodal cavity field with multi-photon transitions of the atoms (multi-photon mazer) is analysed in the framework of the dressed-state formalism, but is distinguished from other treatments by the inclusion of the spatial variation along the cavity axis. In particular, the cavity field mode profile is considered by using the mesa-mode function and differences in the collapse–revival patterns are reported. We demonstrate that, when propagation effects are taken into consideration, the emission probability is influenced significantly. We provide the necessary arguments to justify the validity of our conclusions for emission probability and the micromaser, whose dynamics are governed by the wavefunction. Our main conclusion is that, in the present system, the inclusion of the spatial dependence is necessary and important. The numerical illustrations provide evidence that, in cases of physical interest, the emission probability can be significant and can be reliably estimated for a broad range of field parameters using the present formalism.
