Bose-Einstein-Condensate and Cold Atom Laboratory (BECCAL) - CARIOQA-PMP

Christian Schubert

This presentation introduces the projects BECCAL and CARIOQA-PMP. BECCAL (Bose-Einstein-Condensate and Cold Atom Laboratory) is a NASA-DLR project for operating a payload for experiments on cold atoms, atom optics and atom interferometry on board of the International Space Station. CARIOQA-PMP (Cold Atom Rubidium Interferometry for Quantum Accelerometry - Pathfinder Mission Preparation) aims for the development of hardware and a mission concept for demonstrating atom-interferometric accelerometry onboard of dedicated satellite. The background is to use such sensors e.g. in future missions for earth observation.
