Purity loss and degradation of qubit-field correlations and entanglement due to phase noise in nonlinear interaction

Abstract

Numerical simulations and calculation of both the total entropy and the sub-entropies are used to investigate the purity loss in nonlinear interaction of a qubit with coherent field. While, the mutual entropy is used as a measure of the total correlations and the negativity as a measure to the entanglement. We show that the purity and entanglement behave different for standard energy dissipation as compared to an energy preserving phase noise coupling as introduced by Milburn. It is found that a very strong sensitivity of the degradation both total correlation with entanglement to the amount of phase damping and the chosen coupling. In particular for a coherent initial field state the maximum obtainable correlation is strongly reduced even for very weak noise.

Control of purity and entanglement for two spatially two-separated qubits via phase damping

A.‐S. F. Obada, H. A. Hessian, A.‐B. A. Mohamed +1 more

Control of purity and entanglement of two two-qubits dispersively coupled to a field with a reservoir are investigated. Initially the qubits are entangled, while the field is either in a coherent state or a statistical mixture of two coherent states. For an alternative entanglement measure we calculate the negativity of the eigenvalues of the partially transposed density matrix. A measure related to the mutual entropy, namely the index of entropy, is employed to measure the entanglement. Its results agree well with the negativity. It is found that the entanglement and purity have strong sensitivity to phase damping. The asymptotic behaviour of the states of the field, the two two-qubits, and the total system fall into mixed states.

Effect of atomic decay on purity, total correlations and entanglement of pure and mixed states

H. A. Hessian

The atomic decay for a two level atom interacting with a single mode of electromagnetic field is considered. In particular for a coherent state or statistical mixture (SM) of two opposite coherent states as initial field states, the exact solution of the master equation is found. Effect of the atomic damping on the partial entropies of the atom or the field and the total entropy as a measures of the purity loss is investigated. The degree of entanglement by the negativity and the mutual information and the atomic coherence through the master equation is studied.

Quantum Decoherence and Entanglement Induced by Nonlinear Dissipative Environment

H. A. Hessian

The analytical description of the dynamics of a nonlinear atom-field system described by a diagonal f -deformed Jaynes-Cummings model for a chosen initial state is obtained. The purity loss of the global system, and the atomic and field subsystems are discussed. Information on entanglement between the field and matter is studied by comparing the results for mutual entropy, which is a measure of the total correlation, and the negativity as a measure of the amount of entanglement. It is found that the nonlinearity of the dissipation tends to accelerate the decoherence of the global, field, and atomic states. In addition, we find that the so-called entanglement sudden death can occur when both of the nonlinearity couplings between the cavity field and the dissipation are combined. Subject Index: 061

Dynamics of two superconducting qubits under thermal–classical environmental noise

Fazal Karam, Suliman Khan, Khushnood Shah +1 more

We investigate the time evolutions of purity, coherence and entanglement in two superconducting qubits coupled through Josephson junctions. The system is modeled by coupling strength, energy, Josephson energy and phase difference. Meanwhile, the structure is under the action of thermal field and classical Ornstein–Uhlenbeck (OU) noise. According to our findings, quantum correlations are notably developed governed by the system parameters. Purity and entanglement generally increase for the energetic qubit regimes. The state’s entanglement and purity degrade with increased coupling strength and temperature. On the other hand, the optimal preservation of quantum correlations reqires the adjustment to intermediate Josephson energies ([Formula: see text]) and phase differences ([Formula: see text]). The coherence measurement shows completely opposite traits compared to the entanglement and purity in the system. These results reveal that quantum states need proper parametrization for the considered state while providing optimization for the higher performance of superconducting qubits in quantum information processing.

Exploring phase space properties of nonlinear Kerr-cavity interacting with a qubit: Spontaneous-emission damping effect

Laila A. Al‐Essa, Abdel‐Baset A. Mohamed, F. M. Aldosari

In our work, we have explored the phase space nonlinear coherent-Kerr-cavity nonclassicality and purity loss induced by off-resonant intensity-dependent cavity-qubit interactions under atomic spontaneous-emission dissipation effect. The generation of the cavity purity loss (mixedness) dynamics, by using von Neumann entropy, is linked to the nonclassicality's Wigner distribution dynamics, which is investigated at spastic times chosen based on the von Neumann entropy's cavity dynamics. The temporal evolution of the largest negativity of the Wigner distribution is investigated under the physical system effects of the qubit spontaneous-emission dissipation, the detuning as well as the coherent-Kerr-cavity nonlinearity. The growths and the stability of the purity loss and the Wigner distribution negativity loss have the same behaviors. They depend on the Kerr-like nonlinearity and the dissipation couplings. These losses and their stability can be enhanced by increasing the dissipation coupling. It is found that the nonclassicality's phase space Wigner quasi-probability distribution and the mixedness of the generated coherent-Kerr-cavity states are highly sensitive to the physical system effects.

Dynamics of trade-off relations between quantum information resources in two qubits interacting individually and nonlinearly with a cavity: Decoherence model

Fahad Aljuaydi, A-B A Mohamed, Mostafa Hashem

The dynamics of trade-off relations between quantum information resources are investigated in a system of two non-interacting qubits, each individually and nonlinearly coupled to coherent cavity fields through intensity-dependent coupling. The qubits are initially prepared in a maximally entangled Bell state, while the cavity fields are assumed to be in coherent states. An exact analytical treatment of the reduced two-qubit density matrix is presented under qubit–cavity detuning and intrinsic decoherence governed by the Milburn model. The time evolutions of first-order coherence, concurrence, intrinsic concurrence and purity are analyzed to elucidate the redistribution of quantum resources. The results confirm that intrinsic concurrence and first-order coherence obey a complementary trade-off relation governed by the purity of the two-qubit state, with standard concurrence acting as a lower bound for intrinsic concurrence throughout the dynamics. The roles of the initial coherent field intensity, qubit–cavity detuning and intrinsic decoherence are examined, showing that nonlinear atom–cavity interactions induce regular oscillatory behavior accompanied by entanglement sudden death and revival phenomena. Increasing the coherent field intensity enhances coherence generation and accelerates entanglement degradation of the generated two-qubit states.
