Abstract

We report on a high-speed quantum cryptography system that utilizes simultaneous entanglement in polarization and time-bins. We also show a practical implementation of information reconciliation using concatenated low density parity check codes.

High Performance Information Reconciliation for QKD with CASCADE

Thomas B. Pedersen, Mustafa Toyran

It is widely accepted in the quantum cryptography community that interactive information reconciliation protocols, such as cascade, are ineffcient due to the communication overhead. Instead, non-interactive information reconciliation protocols based on i.e. LDPC codes or, more recently, polar codes have been proposed. In this work, we argue that interactive protocols should be taken into consideration in modern quantum key distribution systems. In particular, we demonstrate how to improve the performance of cascade by proper implementation and use. Our implementation of cascade reaches a throughput above 80 Mbps under realistic conditions. This is more than four times the throughput previously demonstrated in any information reconciliation protocol.

One-way information reconciliation schemes of quantum key distribution

Li Yang, Hua Dong, Li Zhao

With the rapid improvement of quantum computing technology, quantum key distribution(QKD) is a hot technology. Information reconciliation is a key step of QKD which is useful for correcting key error. Classical message interaction is necessary in a practical information reconciliation scheme, which makes the efficiency of these protocols decreased. Therefore, some one-way information reconciliation schemes based on low-density parity-check(LDPC) codes and polar codes are proposed. Here we propose a concatenated method of IR schemes which can achieve any given error rate level without the need of interactions. Compared with the one-way IR schems based on LDPC codes and polar codes, the IR schemes based on the proposed concatenated method can get lower bit error rates after error correction, which can also reduce the communication delay and system complexity of QKD, improve the final key generation rate and enhance the practicability of QKD system.

IC-LDPC Polar codes-based reconciliation for continuous-variable quantum key distribution at low signal-to-noise ratio

Zhengwen Cao, Xinlei Chen, Geng Chai +1 more

Abstract The error correction of information reconciliation affects the performance of the continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD). Polar codes can be strictly proven to reach the Shannon-limit. However, due to the insufficient polarization of finite code-length, partial subchannels are neither completely noise-free nor completely noisy. In this paper, an intermediate channel low-density parity check code concatenated polar code (IC-LDPC Polar codes)-based reconciliation for CV-QKD is proposed for the above shortcomings. The experimental results show that the reconciliation efficiency of IC-LDPC Polar code can be over 98% when the signal-to-noise ratio is from −13.2 dB to −20.8 dB, the secret keys can be extracted, and the minimum frame error rate (FER) is 0.19. Therefore, the proposed scheme can improve the reconciliation efficiency and reduce the FER at a very low signal-to-noise ratio range, and it is more useful for a practical long-distance CV-QKD system.
