Weak measurements enhancing the quantum information facets of a driven Unruh–DeWitt detector

Jialing Xie, Chengjie Zhu, Jia Min Tan +1 more

We developed a Hermitian operator representation of the Unruh channel for a driven accelerated detector in the presence of external noise. This representation is then used to provide a generalized analytical approach to a non-inertial evolution subjected to quantum weak measurements. The quantum information facets were then improved by performing weak measurements before and after the quantum channel. The external noise was modeled using a phase damping channel. The prominent oscillations of the quantum information are caused by vacuum fluctuations of the quantum fields coupled to the detector. Steady values are obtained for the quantum coherence and quantum Fisher information using the Unruh effect. Thus, quantum weak measurements can effectively suppress the decoherence induced by the relativistic acceleration. By comparing with cases without weak measurements, we demonstrate that there exist some regions with optimal measurement strengths that enhance the quantum coherence and quantum Fisher information. The effects of conditional improvement on the quantum information facets are still obvious in the presence of external noise.

Extracting information from single qubits among multiple observers with optimal weak measurements

Xing-Xiang Peng, Peng Yin, Wen-Hao Zhang +7 more

In the context of quantum information, major efforts have been made to maximize the mutual information by measuring single copies of signal states. In general, one execution of optimal projective measurement extracts all the accessible mutual information. However, in some scenarios, weak measurements are preferred because of kinds of specific requirements, e.g., to distribute secret keys to multi-observers. In this study, we propose a method to construct optimal weak measurements for multi-party quantum communications. Utilizing the method in [Physical Review Letters 120, 160501 (2018)] to classify the mutual information, the theoretical study shows that by successively performing this optimal weak measurement, all accessible information can be obtained by multiple observers. This conclusion is experimentally verified by a cascaded measurement apparatus that can perform six successive weak measurements on heralded single photons. The experimental results clearly indicate that almost all accessible mutual information is extracted by this sequence of optimal weak measurements; meanwhile, none of the information is destroyed or residual. Thus, this optimal weak measurement is an efficient and reliable tool for performing quantum communication tasks. The consistence between the experimental and theoretical results verifies that the classifying method in [Phys. Rev. Lett.120, 160501 (2018)] can be applied to characterize realistic quantum measurements.

Chain Inequality Violation with Quantum Weak Measurement Technology*

Zheng-Mao Xu, Hong-Wei Li

Abstract Bell inequality is an important resource in the quantum information theory, which can be applied to guarantee security of the device independent quantum information protocols. By utilizing the quantum weak measurement technology, we propose the Chain inequality violation with three parties, and the analysis result demonstrates that double Chain inequality violation can be observed in the case of Alice and Bob have two different measurement bases. Since the weak measurement model can be assumed to be an eavesdropping model, our analysis model may be applied to analyze security of the device independent quantum information protocols .
