Abstract

We propose a scheme for the entanglement generation of two micromechanical mirrors through two-mode fields generated by a correlated emission laser source in a doubly resonant cavity. The coherence between upper and lower levels is generated in a cascade-driven scheme using two external classical fields. Two input laser fields are both tuned at the Stokes sidebands such that cooling and entanglement of micromechanical mirrors are realizable. We investigate two different conditions for entanglement generation. We show controllable entanglement of both two-mode fields and two mirrors in the steady state. The proposed scheme for the macroscopic entanglement generation is robust against environmental thermalization and in favor of a large cavity dissipation rate.

Entanglement of movable mirrors in a correlated emission laser

Wenchao Ge, Hyunchul Nha, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

We propose an experimental scheme for entangling two macroscopic mechanical resonators (movable mirrors) by their coupling to the two-mode fields of a correlated-emission laser inside a doubly resonant cavity. With this aim we investigate the quantum Langevin equations that describe the interaction of the field-mirror system in conjuction with the master equation of the correlated-emission laser. We show that the steady-state entanglement of two mirrors as well as that of two-mode fields can be obtained in the regime of strong field-mirror coupling when the input lasers are scattered at the anti-Stokes sidebands. Remarkably, the degree of entanglement for both the mirror pair and the field pair can be controlled by an external field driving the gain medium. Our scheme is able to entangle two macroscopic objects with current state-of-the-art experimental apparatus.

Achieving steady-state entanglement of remote micromechanical oscillators by cascaded cavity coupling

Huatang Tan, Lukas F. Buchmann, Hyojun Seok +1 more

In this paper, we propose a scheme for generating steady-state entanglement of remote micromechanical oscillators in unidirectionally coupled cavities. For the system of two mechanical oscillators, we show that when two cavity modes in each cavity are driven at red- and blue-detuned sidebands, respectively, a stationary two-mode squeezed vacuum state of the two mechanical oscillators can be generated by the cascaded cavity coupling. The degree of squeezing is controllable by adjusting the relative strength of the pump lasers. Our calculations also show that the achieved mechanical entanglement is robust against thermal fluctuations. For the case of multiple mechanical oscillators, we find that steady-state genuine multipartite entanglement can also be built up among the remote mechanical oscillators. The present scheme does not require nonclassical light input or conditional quantum measurements, and it can be realized with current experimental technology.

Entanglement in a bright light source via Raman-driven coherence

Sajid Qamar, M. Al-Amri, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

We propose a two-photon correlated emission laser to generate entanglement amplifier for bright light source. The coherence between upper and lower levels is generated in a Raman-driven scheme using two external classical fields. The proposed scheme is practically more suitable for the macroscopic entanglement of photons of the two modes of the cavity field.

Improving macroscopic entanglement with nonlocal mechanical squeezing

Chang‐Sheng Hu, Xinyu Lin, Li-Tuo Shen +4 more

We report an efficient mechanism to generate mechanical entanglement in a two-cascaded cavity optomechanical system with optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs) inside the two coupled cavities. We use the especially tuned OPAs to squeeze the hybrid mode composed of two mechanical modes, leading to strong macroscopic entanglement between the two movable mirrors. The squeezing parameter as well as the effective mechanical damping are both modulated by the OPA gains. The optimal degree of mechanical entanglement therefore depends on the balanced process between coherent hybrid mode squeezing and dissipation engineering. The mechanical entanglement is robust to strong cavity decay, going beyond simply resolved sideband regime, and is resistant to reasonable high thermal noise. The scheme provides an alternative way for generating strong macroscopic entanglement in cascaded optomechanical systems.

Cavity-induced mirror-mirror entanglement in a single-atom Raman laser

Berihu Teklu, Tim Byrnes, Faisal Shah Khan

We address an experimental scheme to analyze the optical bistability and the entanglement of two movable mirrors coupled to a two-mode laser inside a doubly resonant cavity. With this aim we investigate the master equations of the atom-cavity subsystem in conjunction with the quantum Langevin equations that describe the interaction of the mirror cavity. The parametric amplification-type coupling induced by the two-photon coherence on the optical bistability of the intracavity mean photon numbers is found and investigated. Under this condition, the optical intensities exhibit bistability for all large values of cavity laser detuning. We also provide numerical evidence for the generation of strong entanglement between the movable mirrors and show that it is robust against environmental thermalization.
