Abstract

We propose a three-party scheme for quantum information splitting (QIS) of an arbitrary single-photon polarization state based on weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity combined with linear optics elements such as polarization beam splitters (PBSs) and half wave plates (HWPs). The scheme is generalized to the arbitrary-party case. With the help of quantum nondemolition (QND) measurements, our schemes can be accomplished in an almost deterministic way. The two schemes are feasible with the current technology.

Probabilistically cloning two single-photon states using weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities

Wen Zhang, Pinshu Rui, Ziyun Zhang +1 more

By using quantum nondemolition detectors (QNDs) based on weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities, we propose an experimental scheme for achieving probabilistic quantum cloning (PQC) of a single-photon state, secretly choosing from a two-state set. In our scheme, after a QND is performed on the to-be-cloned photon and the assistant photon, a single-photon projection measurement is performed by a polarization beam splitter (PBS) and two single-photon trigger detectors (SPTDs). The measurement is to judge whether the PQC should be continued. If the cloning fails, a cutoff is carried out and some operations are omitted. This makes our scheme economical. If the PQC is continued according to the measurement result, two more QNDs and some unitary operations are performed on the to-be-cloned photon and the cloning photon to achieve the PQC in a nearly deterministic way. Our experimental scheme for PQC is feasible for future technology. Furthermore, the quantum logic network of our PQC scheme is presented. In comparison with similar networks, our PQC network is simpler and more economical.

Splitting and acquiring quantum information with perfect $W$ states based on weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities

Xiao‐Ming Xiu, Cen Cui, Yan-Fang Lin +3 more

With the assistance of weak cross-Kerr nonlinear interaction between photons and coherent states via Kerr media, we propose a scheme to split and acquire quantum information with three-photon perfect W states.By means of a fault-tolerant circuit, the perfect W states are distributed to the participants without being affected by the collective noise. And on this basis we present a scheme for splitting and acquiring a single-photon state with the shared perfect W states. Together with the mature techniques of classical feed-forward, simple and available linear optical elements are applied in the procedure, enhancing the feasibility of the theoretical scheme proposed here.........

Quantum nondemolition measurement of two-photon Bell-state and three-photon Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-state based on weak nonlinearities

Ding Dong, Yan Feng-Li

The scheme for quantum nondemolition measurement of two-photon Bell-state and three-photon Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ)-state is proposed based on weak nonlinearities and linear-optics elements. We first describe a scheme of the symmetry analyzer for two-photon Bell-state by using beam splitters and cross-Kerr nonlinear medium. According to this symmetry analyzer for two-photon Bell-state and the controlled-NOT gates we construct a three-photon state analyzer which can completely and nondestructively discriminate eight three-photon GHZ states.

Generation of four-photon polarization entangled states with cross-Kerr nonlinearity

Meiyu Wang, Fengli Yan

We show how to prepare three different types of four-photon polarization entangled states among four modes. The scheme only use cross-Kerr medium, polarization beam splitters and X homodyne measurements on coherent light fields, which can be efficiently implemented in quantum optical laboratories. GHZ states and symmetric Dick states can be generated in deterministic way based on the scheme. With the possible availability of suitable strong Kerr nonlinearity, another type of entangled state called genuine four-photon entangled state can be realized as well.

EFFICIENT SCHEME FOR PREPARING POLARIZATION-ENTANGLED PHOTONIC CLUSTER STATES BASED ON CROSS-KERR NONLINEARITY

Meng-Zheng Zhu, Yuan Guang-yu

A scheme is proposed for generating a polarization four-photon cluster, which is believed to be suitable to achieve the one-way quantum computing via single-qubit projective measurements, with the help of only cross-Kerr nonlinearity and current linear optical systems. Compared with the existing schemes, the distinct advantage of the present scheme is that cluster states can be achieved with high success probability close to unity. Our scheme is experimentally demanding but efficient. Based on the present scheme, the cluster state of 3N + 1 photons can be obtained with the help of linear optical elements.

Quantum control gates with weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity

Qing Lin, Jian Li

In this paper, with the weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity, we first present a special experimental scheme called controlled-path gate with which the realization of all possible bipartite positive-operator-value measurements of two-photon polarization states may be nearly deterministic. Following the same technique, the realization of quantum control gates, including the controlled-NOT gate, Fredkin gate, Toffoli gate, arbitrary controlled-U gate, and even arbitrary multicontrolled-U gate, are proposed. The corresponding probabilities are $1∕2$, $1∕8$, $2∕23$, etc., respectively. Only the coherent states are required but not any ancilla photons, and no coincidence measurement are required, which results in these gates being scalable. The structures of these gates are very simple, therefore we think they are feasible with the current experimental technology in optics.
