Abstract

Quantum entanglement in the Hénon–Heiles system is analyzed using the squeezed coherent state. Enhancement of quantum entanglement via squeezing is explored in connection with chaotic and regular dynamics of the system. It is found that the entanglement enhancement via squeezing is implicitly linked to the local structure of the classical phase-space and it shows a clear quantum-classical correspondence. In particular, the entanglement enhancement via squeezing is found to be negligible for a highly chaotic orbit compared to the regular and weakly chaotic orbits, and shows a clear correspondence to the degree of chaos present in the classical initial condition. We believe that these results might be useful to develop efficient strategies to enhance entanglement in quantum systems.

The Quantum Signature of Chaos through the Dynamics of Entanglement in Classically Regular and Chaotic Systems

Lock Yue Chew, Ning Ning Chung

We demonstrate the dependence of the entanglement dynamics on the global classical regime of regular, mixed and chaotic dynamics with initial squeezed coherent states.By squeezing the initial states, we are able to enhance or suppress the entanglement entropy of the dynamically generated quantum states relative to those produced via initial coherent states. This suggests the possibility of exploiting a judicious selection of initial squeezed states to create quantum states with enhanced entanglement entropy dynamically for the purpose of robust quantum information processing.

Squeezed states and quantum chaos

K. N. Alekseev, D. S. Priimak

We examine the dynamics of a wave packet that initially corresponds to a coherent state in the model of a quantum rotator excited by a periodic sequence of kicks. This model is the main model of quantum chaos and allows for a transition from regular behavior to chaotic in the classical limit. By doing a numerical experiment we study the generation of squeezed states in quasiclassical conditions and in a time interval when quantum-classical correspondence is well-defined. We find that the degree of squeezing depends on the degree of local instability in the system and increases with the Chirikov classical stochasticity parameter. We also discuss the dependence of the degree of squeezing on the initial width of the packet, the problem of stability and observability of squeezed states in the transition to quantum chaos, and the dynamics of disintegration of wave packets in quantum chaos.

Wave packet dynamics and chaos in the Hénon–Heiles system

Michael D. Feit, J. A. Fleck

The evolution of wave packets under the influence of a Hénon–Heiles potential has been investigated by direct numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. Coherent state Gaussians with a variety of mean positions and momenta were selected as initial wave functions. Three types of diagnostics were used to identify chaotic behavior, namely, phase space trajectories computed from the expected values of coordinates and momenta, the correlation function P(t)=‖〈ψ(0)‖ψ(t)〉‖2, and the uncertainty product or phase space volume V(t)=ΔxΔyΔpxΔpy. The three approaches lead to a consistent interpretation of the system’s behavior, which tends to become more chaotic as the energy expectation value of the wave packet increases. The behavior of the corresponding classical system, however, is not a reliable guide to regular or chaotic behavior in the quantum mechanical system.

Squeezed states and quantum chaos

We examine the dynamics of a wave packet that initially corresponds to a coherent state in the model of quantum kicked rotator. This main model of quantum chaos, which allows for a transition from regular to to chaotic behavior in the classical limit, may be realized in experiments with cold atoms. We study the generation of squeezed states in the quasiclassical limit and in a time interval when quantum-classical correspondence is yet well-defined. We find that the degree of squeezing depends on the degree of local instability in the system and increases with the Chirikov parameter of stochasticity. We discuss the dependence of the degree of squeezing on the initial width of the packet, the problems of stability and observability of squeezed states at the transition to quantum chaos, as well as the dynamics of wave packet destruction.

Properties of Spin Squeezing in the Quantum Chaotic System

Yongda Li

The quantum information is a new interdisciplinary science in the 21st century, and it has become a research field which attracts strongly much attention in the world. Recently, the study of the quantum computer is in the ascendant. In the process of finding a scheme for quantum computation, quantum chaos aroused much attention. It has been shown that it is possible to induce quantum chaos when running quantum computer and consequently it may destroy the operational condition of the quantum computer. The relationship between quantum entanglement and quantum chaos has already been investigated, and the spin squeezing is regarded as another classical quantum property indeed, then is there a natural relationship between quantum chaos and spin squeezing? In this paper a very typical QKT model in the quantum chaos has been discussed, and the properties of spin squeezing in the quantum chaotic system has been studied. The relation between spin squeezing parameters and chaotic parameter in the two different definitions is worked out by numerical calculation. The stronger that the regular regions are than chaotic ones, which are chosen firstly, in the classical phase space, the stronger the spin system which the initial states locate at the centre of elliptical regions as a result. If the initial states are chosen another condition, the contrary result is obtained naturally. It indicates the spin squeezing is very sensitive to the classical chaos and the classical chaos suppresses the spin squeezing. It is interesting that the definition by Wineland is more sensitive than the one by Kitagawa and Ueda, consequently a conclusion, which the quantum chaos can be described by spin squeezing, is acquired.

Spin squeezing as an indicator of quantum chaos in the Dicke model

Lijun Song, Dong Yan, Jian Ma +1 more

We study spin squeezing, an intrinsic quantum property, in the Dicke model without the rotating-wave approximation. We show that the spin squeezing can reveal the underlying chaotic and regular structures in phase space given by a Poincaré section, namely, it acts as an indicator of quantum chaos. Spin squeezing vanishes after a very short time for an initial coherent state centered in a chaotic region, whereas it persists over a longer time for the coherent state centered in a regular region of the phase space. We also study the distribution of the mean spin directions when quantum dynamics takes place. Finally, we discuss relations among spin squeezing, bosonic quadrature squeezing, and two-qubit entanglement in the dynamical processes.
