Fluid Mechanics, and Its Quantum Developments and Applications

Yi-Fang Chang

Based on the known theories of fluid mechanics, we research the new quantum fluid mechanics by operator method. Further, we discuss its various developments combined the extensive quantum theory and other theories. Finally, we search possible applications in some aspects: in biology many systems are fluids; in astronomy binary stars, the density wave theory and evolutionary direction on spiral galaxies, and sunspot are researched; in geosciences earthquake, formation of basin and hydrocarbon layer are proposed; in social sciences the social hydrodynamics and corresponding waves and tides, the social synergetics, corruption, etc., are discussed.

Topological Quantum Fluids

Nguyen Van Hieu

We discuss quantum-mechanical many-body systems interacting with a topological field, known as topological quantum fields. Several topics on the theory of quantum fluids are examined. First we establish the existence of topological gauge fields in high-T c superconductors and in Heisenberg quantum antiferromagnets. Then we consider typical topological quantum fluids, known as quantum Hall fluids, which are systems exhibiting the fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE). A theoretical model of these fluids is described in detail. We also discuss the long distance physics of topological quantum fluids, their topological order parameter and possible experimental tests of the theory.

Quantum--Fluid Correspondence for Systems of Nonrelativistic Spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ Particles

Naoki Sato, Michio Yamada

We show that a charged fluid endowed with an internal spin degree of freedom naturally satisfies the Pauli equation for a nonrelativistic spin-1/2 particle, and that a collection of n such interacting fluids can be reformulated as an Euler flow in 3n dimensions, thereby providing a natural representation of a system of n Pauli particles. These results provide a fluid-mechanical derivation of the Pauli equation and extend the Madelung, or quantum-hydrodynamic, picture to many-particle quantum systems. In particular, they imply that an n-qubit quantum computer can, at least in principle, be realized as a suitable combination of n fluids, or equivalently as a 3n-dimensional Euler flow.
