Abstract

We have measured previously untested correlations between two entangled photons and obtain violations of generalized Bell-type inequalities [1] strong enough to indicate genuine 11-dimensional entanglement.

Experimental verification of time-order-dependent correlations in three-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-class states

Artur Barasiński, Antonín Černoch, Karel Lemr +1 more

In this paper, we investigate the genuine three-way nonlocality which is recognized as the strongest form of tripartite correlations. We consider theoretically and experimentally a series of suitable Bell-type inequalities a violation of which is sufficient for the detection of three-way nonlocality. For the generalized GHZ (gGHZ) states, it is demonstrated that they do violate tripartite Bell-type inequalities for any degree of tripartite entanglement even if they do not violate Svetlichny inequality. It implies that three-way entangled gGHZ can always exhibit genuine three-way nonlocality under the requirement of time-order-dependent principle. Furthermore, we have determined the maximal amount of noise admissible for the gGHZ states to still remain genuine three-way nonlocal.

Violation of Bell Inequality by Four‐Photon Greenberger‐Horne‐Zeilinger State with a Phase from a Warm Atomic Ensemble

Jiho Park, Junghee Ryu, Heonoh Kim +1 more

Abstract A Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled state with a phase is crucial for realizing desired multipartite quantum states for practical applications. Here, it is reported that the violations of the general Bell inequality (GBI) introduced in using the four‐photon polarization‐entangled phase‐GHZ state realized via intrinsic polarization correlation and collective two‐photon coherence in the 5S 1/2 –5P 3/2 –5D 5/2 transition of 87 Rb atoms. The phase‐GHZ state can be achieved by the unitary transformation of only one local phase of the four photons. Theoretically, the GHZ state with the π/4 phase affords maximal violation of the GBI of 2√2 at the local measurement settings of the Pauli operators σ x and σ y . Strong violations of the GBI of the phase‐GHZ state by 47 standard deviations are experimentally demonstrated. In addition to the entanglement witness for the phase‐GHZ state, the results represent a genuine four‐photon entanglement of the phase‐GHZ state, thereby providing a novel resource for realizing photonic quantum computation, magic‐state distillation from entangled states, and quantum networks based on atom–photon interactions.

Multiqubit nonlocality in families of 3- and 4-qubit entangled states

Shohini Ghose, Shantanu Debnath, Neil E. Sinclair +2 more

We investigate genuine multiqubit nonlocality in families of entangled 3- and 4-qubit pure states by analyzing a Bell-type inequality that is violated only if all qubits are nonlocally correlated. We present detailed numerical studies of the relationship between entanglement and violation of the Svetlichny Bell-type inequality in an experimentally accessible set of 3-qubit pure states, and identify the special nonlocality property of the maximal slice states in the space of all 3-qubit pure states. We also analyze nonlocal correlations in 3-qubit generalized Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states and extend our analysis to the case of 4-qubit generalized GHZ states. We show that like the 3-qubit case, some 4-qubit generalized GHZ states do not violate a Bell inequality that tests for genuine 4-qubit nonlocality. Furthermore, the location of the boundary between the states that do violate the inequality and those that do not is the same for the 3- and 4-qubit generalized GHZ states.
