Abstract

The leading behavior of the energy density Green function in Ising quantum field theory is investigated. By using the scaling theory and cluster expansion, we obtain the function of Ising field model in the presence of an external magnetic field as T → T c - from Bariev's correlation function.

Field theoretical approach to spin models

Feng Liu, Zhenhao Fan, Zhipeng Sun +2 more

We developed a systematic non-perturbative method base on Dyson-Schwinger theory and the derivable theory for Ising model at broken phase. Based on these methods, we obtain critical temperature and spin spin correlation beyond mean field theory. The spectrum of Green function obtained from our methods become gapless at critical point, so the susceptibility become divergent at T c . The critical temperature of Ising model obtained from this method is fairly good in comparison with other non-cluster methods. It is straightforward to extend this method to more complicate spin models for example with continue symmetry.

A Theory of the Second Order Phase Transitions in Spin Systems. III

Masuo Suzuki

Expressions for general correlation functions in Ising ferromagnets are derived in terms of the Lee-Yang theorem. By the use of these expressions, the asymptotic forms of correlation functions in the presence of magnetic field are analyzed, assuming those in the absence of the external field. In particular, the critical indices of spin-spin, energy-density-energy-density, energy-density-spin correlation functions are related with the critical indices of thermal susceptiblity χT0, specific heat, susceptibility χH0, and magnetization. These results agree in form with those predicted by the scaling law approach.

Green's-Function Analysis of the Ising Ferromagnet

F. Burr Anderson

The method of the two-time temperature-dependent Green's function has been used to analyze the Ising model of a ferromagnet in an external magnetic field. The selection of a particular Green's function enables us to write an exact expression for the equation of motion. We are then led to a differential difference equation for the correlation function corresponding to the Green's function. No decoupling assumptions have been made, so the equation is exact for both arbitrary spin and range of interaction. It is shown how various approximate theories may be extracted from our formalism. The exact differential difference equation may be reduced to a partial differential equation. The latter form allows us to generate relations among the magnetization and spin-spin correlation functions. These relations are given in detail for the case of spin \textonehalf{} and $z$ nearest neighbors.

Quantum field theory and the two-dimensional Ising model

Jean-Bernard Zuber, C. Itzykson

A relationship between the two-point correlation function of the Ising model in the critical region and the $〈sin\sqrt{\ensuremath{\pi}}\ensuremath{\varphi}(0)sin\sqrt{\ensuremath{\pi}}\ensuremath{\varphi}(\ensuremath{\rho})〉$ Green's function of a sine-Gordon field is constructed. This relationship is tested by means of a mass perturbation expansion with an infrared cutoff and shown to agree, at the leading-logarithm approximation and up to the second order, with the exact result of the Ising model.

Cluster Perturbation Theory for 2d Ising Model

Ilya Ivantsov, Sergey G. Ovchinnikov

This paper deals with 2d Ising model in the scope of cluster perturbation theory.Ising model is defined on a two-dimensional square lattice, the amount of nearest neighbors z=4.Lattice is divided into clusters of a given size and a complete set of energy eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the cluster is defined by the diagonalization method. On the basis of this, Hubbard operators are constructed and Green function is calculated, taking into account intercluster interactions according to perturbation theory, it allows us to obtain the dependence of the magnetization on the temperature in the Hubbard-I approximation.Obtained results are compared with the exact solution of the two-dimensional Ising model.

Ising Model: Field-Theoretic and Functional-Integral Aspects

Eugene Helfand

A functional-integral formulation of the Ising model is used as a link between the usual approach in terms of summation over spin variables and field-theory-like formulas. The latter take the form of Feynman-diagram expansions, Dyson integral equations, or Schwinger functional-derivative field equations. Basic to the theory is a spinless-nucleon-like Green's function, related to the Ising spin-spin correlation function. By means of an infinite renormalization technique, a mesonlike propagator, related to local energy-energy correlations, is bootstrapped. Finally, a vertex function, associated with energy-spin-spin correlations, is introduced. To zeroth order this theory bears similarity to the spherical model, but vital differences are also noted. A brief discussion is presented of the relation of methods employed in field theory for the treatment of the infrared divergence, and approximations which might be of value for critical correlations.
