We present our investigation of photoassociation channels associated with the A1Σ and b3Π electronic states of NaCs including hyperfine structure of high lying levels. We calculate dispersion coefficients and determine a new b3ΠΩ=2 PEC.
We present photoassociation spectroscopy of ultracold NaCs molecules formed in a dual-species magneto-optical trap. Excited-state molecules are formed in states correlating to the Na(3S 1/2 )+Cs(6P 3/2 ) asymptote. We assign the most prominent observed vibrational progression to the Ω=2 long range state based on a comparison with ab initio potentials. Molecules are secondarily excited before decaying to deeply bound levels of the electronic ground X 1 Σ + state where they are ionized and detected by time-of-flight mass spectroscopy.
We report photoassociation (PA) of ultracold Na and Cs atoms in a dual-species magneto-optical trap. Trap loss spectroscopy of the ultracold polar NaCs molecules formed by PA, which carries information about relative PA transition strengths, has been experimentally obtained by using highly sensitive modulation spectroscopy technique. The fine and hyperfine effects at near-dissociation levels of NaCs molecular $c\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{3}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}^{+}$ state are observed and modeled. The interaction Hamiltonian is described in terms of the Hund's case (a) coupling scheme. The molecular hyperfine structure of near-dissociation levels is simulated within a simplified model of four interacting vibrational levels belonging to different initially unperturbed electronic states. The results of the simulation infer that the interaction parameters of the observed near-dissociation levels are close to the asymptotic parameters of the pair of atoms. The coupling of the electronic states is essential for forming the hyperfine structure.
A combination of pulsed depletion spectroscopy and photoassociation spectroscopy is utilized to assign photoassociation spectra of NaCs. These methods investigate the ab initio Ω = 2 potential energy curve and indicate a previously unknown avoided crossing between the (3)Ω = 1 and (4)Ω = 1 electronic states. We present rotational assignments of deeply bound singlet ground state molecules, an improved C(6) coefficient for the (4)Ω = 1 and assignments for all twenty-three photoassociation resonances detuned from the Cs 6(2)P(3/2) asymptote.
Calculations of the adiabatic potential energy curves and the transition dipole moments between the ground (A 1 Σ + ) and the first excited (A 1 Σ + ) states have been determined for the LiCs and NaCs molecules. The calculations are performed using an ab initio approach based on non-empirical pseudopotentials for Cs + , Li + and Na + cores, parameterized l -dependent polarization potentials and full configuration interaction calculations. The potential energy curves and the transition dipole moment are used to estimate the radiative lifetimes of the vibrational levels of the A + Σ + state using the Franck–Condon (FC) approximation and the approximate sum rule method. The radiative lifetimes associated with the A + Σ + state are presented here for the first time. These data can help experimentalists to optimize photoassociative formation of ultracold molecules and their longevity in a trap or in an optical lattice.
